ORDINANCE N0. 602
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF UKIAH AMENDING
SECTIONS 1701 (c), 1710 and 1720 OF THE
UKIAH CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE RATE IMPOSED
FOR SALES AND USE TP.XES TO 1%
The City Council of the City of Ukiah does hereby ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Amending Subsection (c) of Section 1701 as amended of the
Ukiah City Code.
Section 1701 Subsection (c) of the Ukiah City Code as amended is further
amended to read:
"Section 1701 - Purposes:
(c) To adopt a sales and use tax ordinance which imposes a 1 per cent (1%)
tax and provides a measure therefore that can be administered and collected
by the State Board of Equalization in a manner that adapts itself as fully
as practical to, and requires the least possible deviation from, the exist-
ing statutory and administrative procedures followed by the State Board of
Equalization in administering and collecting the California State Sales and
Use Taxes;"
(Ordinance No. 511, Section 2, as amended by Ordinance No. 592, Section 2,
adopted 1967, and Ordinance No. 602, Section 1, adopted 1969).
SECTION 2. Amending Section 1710 as amended of the Ukiah City Code.
Section 1710 of the Ukiah City Code as amended is further amended to
read:
"Section 1710 - Tax Imposed:
For the privilege of selling tangible personal property at retail a tax
is hereby imposed upon all retailers in the City at the rate of 1 per cent
(1%) of the gross receipts of the retailer from the sale of all tangible per-
sonal property sold at retail in the City of Ukiah on and after the operative
date of this ordinance".
(Ordinance No. 511, Section 4 (a) (1) as amended by Ordinance No. 592, Section
3, adopted 1967, and Ordinance No. 602, Section 2, adopted 1969).
SECTION 3. Amending Section 1720 as amended of the Ukiah City Code.
Section 1720 of the Ukiah City Code as amended is further amended to
read:
"Section 1720 - Imposition of tax:
An excise tax is hereby imposed on the storage, use or other consumption
in the City of Ukiah of tangible personal property purchased from any retailer

on or after the operative date of this ordinance, for storage, use or other
consumption in the City at the rate of 1 per cent (1%) of the sales price
of the property. The sales price shall include delivery charges when such
charges are subject to State sales or use tax regardless of the place to
which delivery is made". (Ordinance No. 511, Section 5 (a), as amended by
Ordinance No. 592, Section 4, adopted 1967, and Ordinance No. 602, Section
3, adopted 1968)
SECTION 4. OPERATIVE DATE:
This ordinance relates to taxes for the usual and current expenses of
the City of Ukiah and it shall become operative as a tax on July 1, 1969 and
not before that date.
SECTION 5. PUBLICATION:
This ordinance shall be published as provided by law.
SECTION 6. EFFECTIVE DATE:
This ordinance has been introduced at a regular meeting and read in
full at the time of its introduction. This ordinance shall become effective
30 days after its adoption.

call vote:
AYES: Councilmen Crook, Norgard, and Mayor Scotto
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmen Henderson and Hill.
