RESOLUTION NO. 94-52
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF UKIAH EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR ESTABLISHMENT
OF A SERVICE AUTHORITY FOR FREEWAY EMERGENCIES
WHEREAS, Chapter 14 of Division 3 of the Streets and Highway Code was added by
Chapter 1350 of the Statutes of 1985 providing for the establishment of a Service Authority for
Freeway Emergencies (SAFE), if the Board of Supervisors of the County of Mendocino and a
majority of the incorporated cities within the County of Mendocino having a majority of the
population adopt resolutions providing for establishment of the authority; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ukiah finds that a freeway emergency motorist
aid system is needed to protect the safety of motorists on the freeways; and
WHEREAS, a SAFE will have responsibility for implementing a freeway emergency
motorist aid system in the Mendocino County region;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Ukiah hereby
requests that a Service Authority for Freeway Emergencies be established in Mendocino County
pursuant to Section 2550 of the Streets and Highways Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Ukiah directs that the
members of the Mendocino Council of Governments shall serve as the Service Authority for
Freeway Emergencies in the County of Mendocino.
