HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-46 6 7 8 9~ 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 94-46 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COUNTY OF MENDOCINO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION WHEREAS, experiences of other communities throughout the nation have proven the need for and the effectiveness of commissions empowered to study community, race, and human relations; and WHEREAS, the County of Mendocino is becoming more racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse; and WHEREAS, a Mendocino County Human Relations Commission would work with interested citizens to develop programs to ameliorate tensions and reduce cultural, social, and economic disadvantages; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Commission would be to promote the rights and well- being of all persons In Mendocino County through education, mediation, advocacy, and cooperation with community agencies and organizations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Ukiah does hereby support the establishment of a County of Mendocino Human Relations Commission, PASSED AND ADOPTED this 25th day of April, 1994, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Malone, Wattenburger, and Shoemaker NOES: None ABSENT: Councilmember Mastin and Mayor Schneiter, Fred Schneit~'r, Mayor ~Sfhy ~Kay, City~lerk R:4/Res Human
