From conversations with Cathy McKay and Chuck Rough, I understand there is a vacancy on the commission created by the departure of Roy Tindal, and that you will select his successor. I would like to apply to fill this position. Currently, I am on the Transportation and Circulation Element Committee for the new General Plan. We have spent a great deal of time seeking solutions to traffic problems in the city and I would like to continue to do so after the committee's work is completed. The Committee understands your concerns for safety, but feels that "Children At Play" signs do not improve the safety. As a result of the Committee's discussion, the Public Works Department will review the signage on Cherry Street and recommend any needed improvements. The Ukiah Police Department will monitor Cherry Street for enhanced enforcement of traffic laws in addition to their regular patrols, and investigate the possibility of radar enforcement of the speed limit. The Traffic Engineering Committee will continue to discuss your request at our next meeting of July 14, 1992, requesting the Public Works Department and Ukiah Police Department returning to the Committee with their new information. The Committee appreciates your concerns and invites you to attend the meeting of July 14, 1992.
