Cherry Street is not a through street; and the possibility of
installing undulations on Cherry Street.

Dear Mr Vara:
I am writing to you in your capacity as Chairman of the City
Traffic Commission. From conversations with Cathy McKay and
Chuck Rough, I understand there is a vacancy on the commission
created by the departure of Roy Tindal, and that you will select
his successor. I would like to apply to fill this position.
Currently, I am on the Transportation and Circulation Element
Committee for the new General Plan. We have spent a great deal
of time seeking solutions to traffic problems in the city and I
would like to continue to do so after the committee's work is
completed. I believe my experience there can be put to good use
on the Traffic Commission. If you need further information or
have any questions please call me at 463-4351.

Mr. Jeff Liebe

Ukiah, California 95482
Dear Mr. Liebe:
The Traffic Engineering Committee discussed your request for speed
limit enforcement and "Children At Play" signs on Cherry Street at
their regular meeting on June 9, 1992. The Committee understands
your concerns for safety, but feels that "Children At Play" signs
do not improve the safety.
As a result of the Committee's discussion, the Public Works
Department will review the signage on Cherry Street and recommend
any needed improvements. The Ukiah Police Department will monitor
Cherry Street for enhanced enforcement of traffic laws in addition
to their regular patrols, and investigate the possibility of radar
enforcement of the speed limit.
The Traffic Engineering Committee will continue to discuss your
request at our next meeting of July 14, 1992, requesting the Public
Works Department and Ukiah Police Department returning to the
Committee with their new information.
The Committee appreciates your concerns and invites you to attend
the meeting of July 14, 1992.
Sincerely,
C~. ~ ~

To confirm our tel-con of 5/28/92, I have enclosed a rough sketch
of the areas in question.
We presently have two prisoner transport parking places on School
Street behind the Courthouse. We wish to have these removed and
put back to public parking. We wish to move the prisoner
transport parking places to Perkins Street starting at the stop
sign and moving east. This would put all prisoner transport
parking places on Perkins Street and avoid the "parade" through
the Courthouse which creates an extreme safety hazard.
Your consideration in this matter would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Al Bazzani t_/V

P.S. As in the past we would prefer to have your staff make
these changes with the County bearing the cost.
