This stop serves over 100 daily passenger boardings and alightings. The stop includes a bus shelter set back, off the southbound sidewalk, on the Fidelity National Title Insurance Company parking lot. The Fidelity National Title property manager has contacted us with the notion that the bus stop and it's accompanying transit -passenger activity has contributed to problems in his area. The property manager has asked that we move so he could in his words "do something else with our property". He later suggested that he was interested in erecting a fence on the Fidelity National Title parking lot perimeter. MTA already happens to be exploring downtown in an effort to select a long term site where an intermodal transfer center may eventually be established. Our study will determine the capacity of such a facility, what carriers it will serve, where it will be located, how much it will cost, etc. It is likely that the future site will require fairly extensive rerouting and adjustment of transit schedules. In the meantime, we intend to maintain an on -street location at or near the existing one. We expect that we will always require a transit stop on Main Street near Perkins. 241 Plant Road - Ukiah, California 95482 - (707) 462-5765 Mr. George Vara Page two of two December 28, 1990 The Main Street public right-of-way includes a 12 foot sidewalk. With this proposal, we desire not to get involved in encroachment on other private property. We rather, request permission that our shelter be maintained in its existing location, only placed on the outside edge of the sidewalk (see diagram). Such a placement would continue to allow adequate pedestrian right-of-way. Please advise us in this matter. We prefer not to disrupt the established pattern for our downtown boardings and transfers until such a time as we have a fully dedicated transit facility. MTA request that this item be placed on the January 8 Traffic Engineering Committee agenda for discussion and a possible resolution. Please let me know if you have questions or comments. Sincerely, David Hardy Supervisor of Planning DH:al Attachment ,-,e1wvoLXv I
