We have scheduled arrivals at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM and departures at 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon. Our service would be from June 17 to September 2. We would like to request approval from the Traffic Engineering Committee for a bus stop at the existing red curb on westbound Dora Avenue just west of Spring Street. The stop would be on Dora at the northwest corner of the intersection. The existing red curb is 45' long. There is adequate approach clearance provided by Spring Street. The driveway just beyond (west of) the red curb provides space to pull away from the curb. If the Traffic Committee approves this stop, we will ask the school for permission to locate the bus stop sign in the existing landscape area just behind the sidewalk. The sign would be removed by September 3, 1991. A map is included showing the location of the stop. Please agendize this item for the May meeting. I will have a photograph of the proposed location at the meeting. Sincerely, Steve Turner Manager of Operations ST:al c.c. We would like to request that during your signalization of the Washington & State intersection you appropriately relocate the existing bus stop on northbound State just south of Hastings Road. Thank you. Sincerely, Dave Hardy Supervisor of Planning 241 Plant Road - Ukiah, California 95482 - (707) 462-5765 0 April 24, 1991 Yl NH, CA 95482 ■ ADMIN. 707/463-6200 ■ POLICE 463-6242 ■ FIRE 463-6274 Mrs. Lucille Mirata 488 North State Street Ukiah, California 95482 Dear Lucille: Thank you for your letter of concern about the signalization and inherent hazard at the intersection of North State Street and Scott Street. Please be assured that I, as well as other Staff members, share your concerns and are convinced some changes in programming or structural improvements are needed at that location. In fact, I believe the conditions at the Norton Street intersection should also be analyzed, because of its similarity and proximity to Scott Street. For these reasons I have asked Bill Beard, City Engineer, who also serves as liaison to the Traffic Engineering Committee to include this matter as a discussion item at the next Traffic Engineering Committee meeting scheduled for May 14, 1991, at 2:00 p.m. These meetings are held at the Civic Center, Conference Room 3, 300 Seminary Avenue, Ukiah, and are open to the public. Although it is not necessary for you to be present, you are invited and encouraged to attend and provide input to the Committee. Again, thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. We here at the City appreciate hearing ideas and concerns from our citizens. Sincerely, ed L. Gofort Director of Public Works cc: City Manager City Engineer TLG:kk R:PW11 L MIRATA 7. City vehicles should not be taken home unless emergency or standby or else charged $3.50 for taking home and pay taxes on it. Recommendation: Currently, Payroll adds $3.00 as line item to gross wages for having use of a car. At end of year, taxes are taken out for this added income. Refer to City Manager. 8. Have verbal logo contest between employees and have on uniforms. Recommendation: City has ordered patches for uniforms with a logo already. Suggest we have contest in future for other City uses. 9. Have utility applications printed in Spanish. Recommendation: Sounds like good idea. May be problems for Finance to interpret written information. Suggestion --Finance try on short term basis to see how it work out. 10. Treatment Plant Operators should; 1) be on-call, or 2) have pager at work. Recommendation: Refer to Public Works for analysis. 11. Reuse hardware items such as nuts and bolts by putting in marked containers. Recommendation: Should be done and is being done in some departments. Reminder to all departments that they should recycle these items whenever possible --also bring up at Staff meeting. 12. Put recycling bins in pole yard for different kinds of used wire, copper, aluminum hardware, and other metals. It does take time to strip connectors off wire, etc. Benefits --recycling, recover costs, and cleaner yard. Recommendation: Good suggestion. Refer to Warehouse and Electric Department to implement as far as possible. 13. Corner of Perkins and Orchard --should be truck route there due to ✓ constant problems with trucks turning and hitting signal lights. Recommendation: Refer to Traffic Engineering Committee. 14. Place large map above dispatch center to eye level on wall between building and interview room. Recommendation: Good idea. Refer to Police Department.
