HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Reso 2026-36 - Voluntary Spending LimitsPage 1 of 1 RESOLUTION 2026-36XX RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH INCREASING THE VOLUNTARY SPENDING LIMITS TO REFLECT THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX INCREASE SINCE 2016 WHEREAS, on June 15, 2016, the Ukiah City Council adopted a Resolution amending section 2081 of the Ukiah City Code for voluntary spending limits for City elections, which included, establishing a $5,850 voluntary spending limit for campaigns; and WHEREAS, Ukiah City Code Section 2081 reads: “This voluntary spending limit shall apply to future elections, but may be adjusted periodically by resolution of the City Council to reflect increases or decreases in city population and the Consumer Price Index (CPI)”; and WHEREAS, the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index has increased 38% since June of 2016. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Ukiah City Council approves increasing the spending limit under Ukiah City Code Section 2081 to $6,000. This voluntary spending limit shall apply to all elections conducted on or after the date this resolution is adopted, but may be adjusted periodically by resolution of the City Council to reflect increases or decreases in City population and the Consumer Price Index. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of May, 2026, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Crane, Rodin, Criss, Orozco, and Mayor Sher. NOES: None. ABSENT: None.
