Groundwater Elevation Monitoring and Coordination
Ukiah Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency
FY 22-23 SCOPE OF WORK AND BUDGET
Mendocino County Resource Conservation District (MCRCD) will provide the Ukiah Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) with groundwater elevation monitoring and reporting
for 26 wells identified in the Groundwater Sustainability Plan according to a schedule created for the GSA by consultants Larry Walker Associates (LWA). MCRCD will also coordinate as
needed with LWA and attend GSA and GSA Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings.
In addition, MCRCD will assist with one-time nitrate sampling of nine wells, including hiring, contracting with, and getting trained in the technique by Blain Tech; delivering the nitrate
samples to Alpha Labs; and receiving and submitting the results.
Scope of Work:
Task 1: Well Monitoring and Reporting for 26 wells: 22 monthly, 4 twice a year
MCRCD will conduct monthly groundwater elevation monitoring of twenty-two (22) wells and Spring/Fall monitoring of four (4) wells. The monitoring schedule is detailed in Table 1, below.
Activities will include:
Communication with well owners to arrange visits and answer questions
Manual groundwater elevation monitoring
Updates to records/general record-keeping
Reporting of data to GSA (monthly data reporting and quarterly reports)
Attendance at GSA and GSA Technical Advisory Committee meetings
Coordination with consultants regarding the status of wells, telemetry equipment and assistance with equipment problems
Bookkeeping
Deliverables:
Monthly reporting of groundwater elevation data to GSA
Quarterly reports on the progress of the data collection
Attendance at GSA and GSA TAC meetings
Task 2: Assist with and receive training for one-time nitrate sampling on nine wells
MCRCD will assist with one-time nitrate sampling on UVBGSA 1a,b,c; UVBGSA 5; UVBGSA 6a,b,c,d; and UVBGSA 7, including training on the low-flow sampling technique by Blain Tech and delivery
of the samples to the lab.
Activities will include:
Hire, contract with, and communicate with Blain Tech to arrange for monitoring
Create records, including approval from landowners for installation of the permanent tubing
Assist with and receive training in nitrate sampling via the low-flow technique
Collect the samples in ice and deliver them to Alpha Labs
Receive and report the results to the GSA
Bookkeeping
Deliverables:
Results of one-time nitrate sampling from nine wells
