~N ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF UKIAH AUTHORIZING AN ~.IE~MENT TO THE
CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY COUNCIL AN~ THE BOARD
OF ADMINISTRATION OF THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC
EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYST~!
The City Council of the City of Ukiah does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Than an amendment to the Contract between the City
Council of the City of Ukiah and the Board of Administration, California
Public Employees' Retirement System is hereby authorized, a copy of said
amendment being attached hereto, marked "Exhibit A", and by such
reference made a part hereof.~s though herein set out in full.
SECTION 2. The Mayor of the City Council is hereby authorized,
empowered, and directed to execute said amendment for and on behalf of
said Agency.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect 30 days after the date
of its adoption, and prior to the expiration of 30 days from the passage
thereof shall be published at least once in' the Ukiah Daily Journal, a
newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in the City
of Ukiah and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.

The Board of Administration, Public Employees' Retirement System, herein-
after referred to as Board, and :he governing body of above public agency,
hereinafter referred to as Pubzic Agency, having entered into a con:rac~ under
date of June 4, 1962, effective August 1, 1962, and as amended effective
January 1, 1973, which nrovides for narticipation of Public Agency in said
System, Board and Publi~ Agency here~y ~-gree as follows:
A. Paragraphs 1 through 10 are hereby s~ricken from said contract as executed
effective January 1, 197~, and hereby replaced by ~he following oaragraohs

Employees of Public Agency in ~he following classes shall become

Public Agency, in accordance with Section 20740, Government Code,
shall cease :o be an "empLoyer" for ourp. oses of Chapter 6 of the
Public Employees Retirement Law effective as of the effective date of
this amendment ~o con:ract. Accumui~_:ed contributions of Public
Agency as of the date of such amendmen: shall be fixed and determined
as provided in Section 20759, Government Code, and such accumulated
contributions and contributions hereaf:er made'shaXl be held by the
Board as provided in Section 20~.., Government Code.
Public Agency shall contribute to said Re.:irement System as follows:

service benefits.

Survivor Program.

With respec= :o local safety members, ~he agency shall contribute
the following percentages of mon=hly salaries earned as local
safety members of said Re~iremen~ System: '
(1) 4.641 percent until June 30, 1992 on account of the
liability for prior service benefits.
(2) 32.061 percen: on accoun~ of the liability for curren~
service benefits.
(3) 0.200 percent on account of the iiabiii=y for the t959
Survivor Program.

A reasonable amoun=, as fixed by :ne Board, payable in one
installment wi=him i'O days of date of contract to cover ~he costs
of administering sa~d System as it affects the employees of
Public Agency, no= including the costs of soeciaz valuations or

of the periodic investigation and valuations required by law.
A reasonable anoun~ as fixed by ~he Board, paya01e in one
instalimen: as ~he occasions arise, to cover the costs of soecial
-valuations on account of employees of Public Agency, and co'ts of
the periodic investigation and valuations required by law.
Con=ributions required of Public Agency and its emozoyees shall be

subjec~ to adjustment by Board on account of 2mendments ~o ~he Public
Employees' Retirement Law, and on account of the experience under the
Retirement System as determined by the periodic investigation and
valuation required by said Retirement Law.
10. Con~ribu.:ions required of Public Agency and its emoioyees shall be
paid by Public Agency to the Retirement System within thir=y days
after the end of :he period to which said contributions refer or as
may be prescribed by Board regulation. If more or less than the
correc.: amoun~ of con=ribu~ions is paid for any period, proper
adjustmen~ sh~ll be made in connec=ion with subsequent remittances, or
adjustments on accoun~ of errors in con=ributions required of any
employee may be nad, by direc~ casa p~yments beu.~een =he emoloyee and

the Board. Payments by Public Agency ~o Board nay be made in ~he form
of warrants, bank checks, oa~< dr~£ts, certified checks, money orders
or cash.
