REPORT: The Electric Utility Industry is going through various phases of restructuring with the goal of complete deregulation of the industry by 2005. However, all customer classes will have the ability to select their supplier of choice beginning on January 1, 1998. This Workshop is to advise the Council relative to the current status of this restructuring effort and to outline the City of Ukiah Electric Utility's ability to compete within this proposed deregulated environment. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Direct Staff relative to Council's goals for the Electric Utility. ALTERNATIVE COUNCIL POLICY OPTIONS: Define Expectations of the Electric Utility and Direct Staff to Formulate a Plan to acheive those Expectations. Acct. No. (If not budgeted): Acct.
