RESOLUTION NO. 78-49
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF UKIAH AMENDING THE PAY AND
CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO INCORPORATE THE
CLASSIFICATION ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
TECHNICIAN
WHEREAS, the City Council adopted a budget for the fiscal
year 1977-78 which incorporates the position of Electrical Enaineer-
ing Technician, and
WHEREAS, no class specification exists for this position,
and
WHEREAS, the City pay plan needs to be amended to accomodate
this position,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the class specification
Electrical Engineering Technician is hereby adopted and added to
the City classification plan in the form attached hereto, an~
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City pay plan is amended to
place this position in Range 43.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of December, 1977 by the
following roll call vote:

Mayor Simpson

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, to perform a variety of subprofessional office and
field engineering work in the planning, design, construction, operation, and
maintenance of an electrical distribution system; to assist other engineering
staff in the performance of office and field engineering work; and to do related
work as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Prepare detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates in connection with
the construction, maintenance, or removal of a variety of electrical facilities
such as service drops, line extensions, transformers, meters, switch gear, and
street lighting.
Determine proper wire sizes and metering equipment.
Prepare rate analysis.
Determine transformer sizes and combinations for given loads on the distribution
system.
Maintain electrical and traffic system maps and records.
Obtain easements for electric system facilities.
Perform maintenance on traffic signal and electrical facilities as required.
Inspect the installation of electrical equipment and related facilities.
Respond to citizen complaints and questions.
Coordinate electrical distribution system, traffic signal, and street lighting
activities with other City departments and divisions, and with outside agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Methods and materials used in the construction, operation, and maintenance of
an electrical distribution system.
Fundamentals of electrical engineering.
Safety practices and regulations.
Mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Methods and tools of drafting.
Ability to:
Review plans and documents for conformance to regulations.
Gather data and make accurate engineering computations.
Prepare plans and specifications, neatly and accurately.
Prepare and carry out oral and written instructions.
Establish & maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the
course Of work.
Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible experience in the construction, operation,
and maintenance of an electrical, distribution system.
Education:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by, courses
in basic electricity, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
