RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF UKIAH EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF
THE ARCTIC GAS PIPELINE PROJECT
8 WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) owns and
4 operates a natural gas pipeline passing through the Counties of
6 Modoc, Siskiyou, Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Colusa, Yolo, Sacramento
6 and Contra Costa in the State of California; and
7 WHEREAS, the pipeline now delivers Canadian natural gas
8 for use by the citizens of California as well as Idaho, Wash'
-
9 and Oregon, and provides substantial ad valorem tax revenues to
10 the State of California; and
11 WHEREAS, that pipeline has been operated in a safe and
12 environmentally acceptable manner for over sixteen years; and
18 WHEREAS, PG&E and its affiliates are a part of the Arctic
14 Gas Project which proposes to bring gas from Alaska's North Slope

and Canada's Northwest Territories to markets in the lower 48
16 United States and Southern Canada; and
17 WHEREAS, PG&E and its pipeline subsidiary, Pacific Gas
18 Transmission Company (PGT), proposed to construct a new parallel
19 pipeline on their existing right of way to bring this new Alaskan
20 gas to consumers in California and other western states; and
21 WHEREAS, an Administrative Law Judge of the Federal Power
22 Commission has determined that the Arctic GAs Project, including
28 the wedstern leg to be constructed by PG&E and PGT, will delivery
~4 Alaskan gas most directly to markets, is the most energy efficient
26 will deliver the most natural gas, will transport such gas at
26 materially lower cost to all parts of the nation, will best
27 support current levels of imports of natural gas from Canaday by
~8 providing access for Canada to its supplies .of gas in the Canadian
~9 Arctic, will be most environmentally acceptable, will be capable
80 of being put into operation most promptly, and will be of the
81 greatest economic benefit to the entire United States;
82 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the

City of Ukiah hereby express its support for the Arctic Gas Pro-
ject, including the western leg to be built by PGT and PG&E to
provide direct access to Alaskan gas for the residents of the
State of California and other western states; and that the Councl
hereby urges the President and the Congress of the Unites States
to take all feasible action to expedite the authorization, con-
struction and operation of the Arctic Gas Project.

following roll call vote:
AYES: Councilman Brannon, Councilwoman Snyder, Councilman
Feibusch and Mayor Simpson
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Wood
