HomeMy WebLinkAbout76-64 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 · 25 RESOLUTION NO. 76-64 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND PAY PLAN WHEREAS, Ralph Andersen and Associates has made a survey of clerical employees and recommends that the position of Principal Account Clerk be re- titled accountant, and WHEREAS, the incumbent of the position of Principal Account Clerk will retire June 31, 1976 and now is an appropriate time to recruit at the new )osition, and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the position be retitled. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the position of PrJ.ncipal Account Clerk is retitled to Accountant and the position classification description attached hereto and made a part hereof and title "Accountant" is hereby approved and the City Manager is directed to add this portion to the Job Classification Plan and to the Pay Plan of the City of Ukiah at Range 37 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of June, 1976 by the following roll call vote: AYES:Councilmen Feibusch, Brannon, Councilwoman Pearson, Mayor Woo NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman SimPson ATTEST: CITY CLERK ACCOUNTANT Definition Under direction, to perform difficult and responsible professional accounting work in maintaining, reviewing and reconciling financial and statistical records; and to do related work as required. Examples of Duties Maintains general ledger and revenue ledger; analyzes and verifies financial reports and statements, accounts and records of expenditures, revenues and other financial transactions; gathers data for a variety of financial reports requiring application of accounting principles and judgment; compiles finan- cial reports; prepares.journal vouchers and enters in appropriate subsidiary ledgers and general ledger; maintains a fund ledger, making monthly entries from cash receipts register, bills and payroll registers and journal vouchers; tastes monthly trial balance; prepares profit and loss statements and balance sheets; maintains utility ledger; prepares fund report, revenue report and report of transfers in and out of funds; answers telephone and gives out inforFnation to tt~e public regarding departmental operation,s; collects utility payn'~ents; issues business and other licenses; supervises the work of sub- ordinate tecl~nicians and clerical personnel engaged in accounting-related activ'ities. Empl%,ment Standards Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from higi~ school s,~pplemented by additional college level training in accounting and four years of experience in n~aintaining accounting records. Knowledges and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting; l~.nov~ledge of office met!~ods and procedures; l~nowledge of data processing applications for accounting; ability to compile, verify and analyze financial records and repQrts; ability to oI~erate billing and adding machines; ability to prepare concise reports; ability to establish effective working relationst~ips.
