'76 .... 53 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND PAY PLAN WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has evaluated h~s departmental need and policies and recommends that the position of Supervising Dispatcher-Custodial Officer be established, and WHEREAS, the City Manager concurs with the recommendations of the Police Chief that the position be established. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the position classification description attached hereto and made a part hereof and titled "Supervising Dispatcher-Custodial Officer" is hereby approved an~ the City Manager is directed to add this position to the Job Classification Plan and at Range 33 of the Pay Plan of the City of Ukiah. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of May, 1976 by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen Feibusch, Simpson, Councilwoman Pearson, Mayor ~'~ood NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Brannon ATTEST: CITY CLERK SUPERVISING DISPATCHER-CUSTODIAL OFFICER Suggested Salary Scale Range 33 - $896 to 1093 Per Month Definition Under general supervision, performs non-criminal police functions. Work involves receiving calls, including requests for public safety services or information and dispatching personnel and equipment for both routine and emergency police service through the use of telephone, radio or other communication equipment and to do related jail custodial work as required. E_xa__m?les of Duties Performs various duties such as preparing police reports, the logging of radio and telephone calls, assists the public at the counter and over the telephone by answering questions and receiving complaints and reports; operates a multiple channel voice 2 way radio system and a teletype system; gives information, as requested; receives emergency calls which must be immediately processed and this includes the dispatching of personnel and equipment. In addition, assists in booking, photographing and fingerprinting of prisoners incarcerated in the City jail and also serves as a correctional officer by assisting the departmental jailer in the supervision of departmental prisoners. Additional duties would consist of supervision of non-sworn radio dispatcher-correctional officers. EmPloyment Standards Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and 5 years of experience as a sworn member of an accredited California law enforcement agency. Knowledges and Abilities: Knowledge of law enforcement practices and procedures; knowledge of the geography of the City and the location of streets and important buildings; ability to speak clearly, to think and act calmly in emergency situations and abilities to supervise subordinate personnel if and when employed.
