HomeMy WebLinkAbout76-121 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 30 31 32 RESOLUTION NO. ~ RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH SUPPORTING THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF MENDOCINO'S APPLICATION FOR FUNDS TO IMPLEMENT A HOUSING ASSISTANCE PAYMENT PROGRAM FOR EXISTING HOUSING UNDER SECTION 8 OF THE UNITED STATES HOUSING ACT OF 1937 AND REQUESTING THAT THE PROGRAM BE APPLICABLE WITHIN THE CITY OF UKIAH JURISDICTIONAL BOUNDARIES WHEREAS, the United States Housing Act of 1937 provides that there shall be local determination of the need for low rent housing to meet needs not being adequately~met by private enterprise; and, WHEREAS, under the provisions of the United States Housing Act of 1937 the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is authorized to provide financial assistance to public housing agencies for low-rent housing; and, WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the County of Mendocino has prepared an application for funds to implement a Housing Assistance Payment Prograun for Existing Housing under Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937; and WHEREAS, said Section 8 provides that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any locality unless the governing body of the locality has by resolution approved the application of such provisions to such locality; and WHEREAS, there is need for low-rent housing units in the City of Ukiah NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, 1. That the City Council of the City of Ukiah supports and approves the application of the Housing Authority of the County of Mendocino for funds for a Housing Assistance Payment Program for Existing Housing under Section 8, and finds said application consistent 1 2 4 $ 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 15 14 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 2~ 24 25 26 27 ~0 ~2 with the City's General Plan relative to housing needs. 2. That the provisions of Section 8 be applicable within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Ukiah.
