HomeMy WebLinkAbout73-54 1 4 $ 6 ? 8 9 10 11 18 14 16 17 18 19 81 RESOLUTION NO. 73-54 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH AMENDING THE PERSONNEL RULES Be It Resolved that Chapter 5, Section 1 of the City of Ukiah Personnel rules is amended to read as follows: Chapter 5 Section 1: Vacation Leave The purpose of annual vacation leave is to enable each eligible employee annually to return to his work mentally refreshed. All employees in the com- petitive service shall be entitled to annual vacation leave except employees serving the first six (6) months probationary period. Earning Rates 40 Hours, Full Time Employees 40 hours, full time employees shall earn vacation credit at the rate of 1.08 work days per month during the first three (3) years of service; at the rate of 1.25 work days per month beginning in the fourth year and through the eighth year of service; at the rate of 1.66 work days per month beginning in the ninth year and through the fourteenth year of service; at the rate of 1.83 days per month beginning in the sixteenth year. Fire shift employee~ Fire shift employee vacation earnings are calculated to give an equal number of calendar days off as are received by 40 hours, regular employees. Fire shift employees shall earn vacation credit at the rate of .566 assigned 24 hour work shifts per month during the first three years of service; at the rate of .65 work shifts per month beginning in the fourth year and through the eighth year of services; at the rate of .875 shifts per month beginning in the ninth year and through the fifteenth year of service; at the rate of .96 assigned work shifts per month. Incumbents of positions in the following classes are compensated on the basis of responsibilities carried, rather than time spent on the job. Employee in these classes are not eligible for overtime compensation. Employees in the following classes shall be credited 5 work days additional vacation annually -1- 1 2 4 $ 6 ? 8 9 10 11 12 14 16 17 18 19 20 21 26 29 50 at the rate of .416 days per month. City Manager Public Works Director City Attorney Fire Chief Police Chief Director of Finance Distribution Engineer Recreation & Parks Director Public Works Superintendent Public Works Supervisor Building Inspector Police Captain Fire Inspector Assistant City Manager/Planner Airport Manager Vacation time shall be charged on the basis of the actual number of working hours the employee is on vacation to the nearest hour. Employees may take only such vacation as they have accumulated at the time that the vacation begins. Fractional days shall not be taken as vacation but shall remain to the credit of the employee. The times during the calendar year at which an employee may take his vacation shall be determined by the Department Head with due regards to the needs of the service and desires of the employee. If requirements of the service or the desires of the employee are such that an employee must defer part or all of his annual vacation in a particular year, the Department Head may permit the employee to take such deferred vacation during the following calendar year. No employee may accumulate more than twice his annual vacation allowance. In the event a municipal holiday falls within an annual vacation leave and the employee does not receive holiday pay for such holiday, such holiday shall not be charged as vacation leave. If the employee becomes sick during his vacation he may charge his leave to sick leave credits in the same manner as provided in the sick leave rule. A doctor's certificate may be required as also provided in the sick leave rule. Employees who terminate employment shall be paid a lump sum based on his highest rate of pay for all accrued vacation leave earned prior to the -2- effective day of termination. Employees who terminate with less than one year of service shall not be eligible for cash payment of vacation benefits.
