HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-1210 11 12 16 18 19 2O 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 ~2 RESOLUTION NO. 72-12 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH REQUESTING THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HYGIENE TO IMMEDIATELY INSTITUTE A RECOGNIZED RETARDED TREATMENT PROGRAM AT MENDOCINO STATE HOSPITAL WHEREAS, the City of Ukiah is vitally interested in the future of Mendocino State Hospital as it provides employment for numerous citizens of the community; and, WHEREAS, a pr.ecipitous loss of personnel would be a serious fiscal loss to the community; and, WHEREAS~ the City of Ukiah is interested in the providing of mental health services to all of our fellow citizens of the State of California and particularly to those citizens who live in Areas One and Two; and WHEREAS, it has been called to our attention that there are ambulatory retarded patients removed from Areas One and Two and cared for in other institutions; and, WHEREAS, the City of Ukiah understands that the Area Mental Retardation Board recommends a program for the retarded at Mendocino State Hospital and that there are available facilities and trained personnel for such a program. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Ukiah does hereby resolve: That the Department of Mental Hygiene re-examine its present position and change that position and present policy and initiate a recognized program for the retarded at Mendocino State Hospital as soon as is possible.
