HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-47! 2 3 4 § 6 7 8 9 10 11 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 22 24 215 28 3O 311 RESOLUTION NO. 71-47 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH AFFIRMING ITS BELIEF IN THE CONCEPT OF FREEDOM OF RELIGION AND THE FREE EXPRESSION THEREOF WHEREAS, one of the basic principles upon which this country is founded is that our citizens are free to follow any religious conviction they choose and, WHEREAS, it is further a basic principle that the free expression of religious convictions is paramount to our ordered society. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Ukiah does hereby RESOLVE; That the City Council meetings are a proper place for the expression of thoughts and that any religion, sect thereof or religious doctrine, may be represented before the Council. Those who so desire are hereby invited to present invocations, prior to the meetings of the Council, without restrictions being placed thereon as to the religious origins, doctrines or backg~und of the spokesman. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of June, 1971, by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen Scotto, Buxton, Simpson, and Mayor Norgard. NOES: None ABSENT: None ATTEST: City Clerk
