HomeMy WebLinkAbout70-37RESOLUTION NO. ~"C.- ~ '/ I0 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 t8 19 2O 22 25 ยท 26 29 3O 31 RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO ANY DIVERSION OF GASOLINE TAX MONEY FOR OTHER THAN STREET AND HIGHWAY PURPOSES WHEREAS, the State gasoline tax is levied upon highway users to provide funds for street and highway facilities, and WHEREAS, Article XXVI of the California Constitution protects gasoline taxes from diversion to other than street and highway purposes, and WHEREAS, the volume of revenue from gasoline tax has not been sufficient to correct the deficiencies of street and highway systems, and WHEREAS, the California Freeway and Expressway system adopted by the Legislature in 1959 is less than 50% complete, and WHEREAS, other legal sources of revenue are available to those agencies attempting to have gasoline tax diverted for their purposes NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Ukiah does protest any change in Article XXVI of the California Constitution which would permit diversion of gasoline tax monies for other than street and highway purposes.
