HomeMy WebLinkAbout65-30:LO l? 18 19 20 28 29 3O 31 RESOLUTION NO.,~ 65-30 RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 10052 OF THE PUBLIC UTILITIES CODE. WHEREAS Pacific Gas and Electric Company plans to expand its natL~ral gas sytem by the construction of approximately 58 miles of 12-inch main from a point near the City of Santa Rosa to the Masonite plant in the vicinity of the City of Ukiah; and ~:VHEREAS this project will bring natural gas to the ci'ties of Ukiah and Cloverdale, as w~ll as to unincorporated areas of Sonoma and Mendocino Counties where natural gas service is now available; and ~^,:HEREAS 'the construction of said project by Pacific Gas and Electric Company will result in substantial reduction o'f: the. monthly fuel bills now being paid in the ar~a involved, will attract new industry, will provide greater tax income to the Cities of Ukiah and Cloverdale, the Counties of Sonoma arid Mendocir~o, and local taxing districts in said ~counties, and will further the economic development of the ar~;~a to be s~rved by said project; and ?.?HEREAS a condition precedent to the undertaking of said project by Pacific Gas and Electric Company is the acquisition by it of the municipal propane gas system of the City of Ukiah; and ¥,.~HEREAS Pacific Gas and Electric Company has offered to purchase said propane gas system of the City of: Ukiah for · ~he sum of $725,000; and I~"HEREAS the City Council of the City of Ukiah believes that the best interests of the City and its citizens ~vill be served by the acceptance of said offer of Pacific Gas and Electric Company; and Page 1. 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2O 21 23 ~5 27 28 29 3O 31 the o f the demand City WHEREAS State of California reads as 'follows: "Whenever the corporation by thirds of ali that the public interest and necessity demand any public util it:y owned by the municipal corporation should be sold, it may at any subsequent meetiag by a vote of two- thirds Section 1OO52 of the Public Utilities legislative body of a resolution passed its members determines a municipal by two- of all its members order the proposition of selling the public uti l ity to be submitted to the qualified voters of the municipal corporation at an NOW, THEREFORE, BE City of Ukiah that that the municipal of Ukiah should be sold; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that of Ukiah that Code election held 'For that purpose."
