:0VJ, THEREFORE, BE IT R:SOLVED that it be and it is here-
by ordered -i;hat the Chief of Police of the Cit7 of Ukiah, under
final judgment of conviction of misdemeanors and that suc?~
vrisoners under the direction of said res~)onsible person so
appointed by the Ohief of Police of the Cit~of Ukiah, perform
work uoon the public grounds, roads, streets, alleys, public
buildings and public works of the City of Ukiah as may be deemed
advisable to aaid respo~sible person ~nd for the benefit of
City of ~kiah.
BE IT FURTHEr. RE~$0LVED that for e~ch month in which the
:risoner appears, by tbs record, to have given a cheerful and
willing obedience to the rules and regulations set up by the
Chief of ~olice pertaining to such work and where his conduct is
reported by the officer in charge of the Jail to be positively
good, five (.5) days shall be deducted from his term o:' sentence.'

by the prisoner in the manner hereinabove provided he be paid
vhe sum of One (a .00) Dollar, and that where he is in jail for
failure to pay a fine, that ~aid sum of One (~l.00) ~ollar for
~ach day's work be ded:.cted from the amount due on said fine.

City of Gkiak, and that such work is and would be for the benefit,
of the said Cit)~ of ~'kia:, and may, under the provisions of the
laws of the State of California, be performed by prisoners con- '
fined in the City Jail under judgment of conviction of misdemeand
or, providing said work be under the direction of some res?onsib~e
person appointed by the Chief of Police,
