'JHEREAS: Recreation~ as such, rates woil up in the brackets
of big business and beaches and parks are our largest recreation
facilities and serve the greatest nmnber of people and

these facilities is of inestimable value to health and happiness

is available in such unlimited measure to so many people at so
little expense and

!~eCtion 6816 of the Pt~blic Resources Code of the S, tate of Calif-
ornia in the form of oil royalty revenue from oil drilling in
the state ownec! tidelands and
7/I{T~i:~EA3: it seems altogether proper, right and logical that
income derived from the stat(,, tidelands should be invested in
state beaches, state inland parks and small boat harbors on
coastal and river areas within state beaches mit inlana parks,
for the ~veriasting enjoyment and benefit of the people of the
state and
,,~,~.'~: These revenues have been impo'ended since 1947 ant are
still not available and
iYH~}~]Y.'AE: These f,~ds are very urgently needed for acquiring
and developing beach and park property anJ for operatin~i beaches
and parks eyre. ed by the state,

respectfully request that Assemblymsm Stanley T. Tomlinson,
Chalm-man of the Cor~ittee on ~apounded F~ds from Tide and
[4ubmcrged Lands~ anct his co~tlttee members do find that the best
interests of the o~tate and tn~ great majority' of the people of
the state lie in keepim: the :0resent orovisions of
6816 of the Public Resources Code intact to the end tkat "the
remaining balance"
