THE CITY OF UKIAH, a member of THE ~ORT~-.~ER£'~ CALIFOR~IA
MUNICIPAL ELECTRi~IC ASSOCIATIO~, which Association represents
every municipal electric distribution system in Northern
California, comprised of the following me~er Cities: Lodi,
Santa Clara, Healdsburg, Palo Alto, Redding, Roseville, Ukiah,
Alameda, Big~s, Gridley and Lompoc, in the best interests of its
economic prosperity, hereby resolves:
i. T~hat it is ti~e City of Ukiah's res-r~onsibi]~ty to
seek power for t~.eir electrO, cai ~lstr~.b~t~_on syste~ at the lowest
cost possible.
2 That the' Trlnity River Projec~' offers the last
opportunity for a low cost rr~ajor power supply for the City of
Ukiah.
..3. That revenues ~(enerated from the operation of the
electrical system are of vital importance to the economy of
The City of Uk~ah.
4. Tba~t tn order to sustain these econom~_c demands mad
seek the lowest, cost power available, ~.~e must oppose any
attempt by a private utility to supercede our rights as a
public agency to first call on power developed through expend-
iture of pub lic funds.
NOW, THEREFORE °~' IT RESOLVED, that the City of Ukiah
hereby records its opposition to the Pacific Ga~ and Electric
Company's proposal for "partnership" in the construction of the
Trinity River Project and its power generating facilities.
ACCORDII~GLY, the City of Ukiah further resolves that
the Federal Government b,e requested and encouraged to i~n,'~ediately
proceed to construct the aforementi~ned.~ . generating facilities
and that favorable consideration be !~:iven to any ap;.~lication
of the City of Ukiah I'or the purchase of a port~on of the
electrical ?ener~.t_~_ng ..... capacity of the Trinity River Project.
