HomeMy WebLinkAbout60-32Public Schools Week. ~EREAS, our Forefathers in their wisdom at tile time of the Constitutional Convention, held in l~onterey 1849, orovided for the establishment of a Public School System In ~rtlcle IX of that historic document; and ~ERE&S, The Public School in the United States has always been s livln~ symbol o.f our li~e since earliest Colonial tlmes; and WHEREAS, Public education has been reco~ni~.ed since oloneer times as an ~moerat~ve oreoaration for the resoomsib.~l~ties o? e~t!,enshio in ou~ free and democ- ratic Country; and '~.~ERE~S, The comolexity of local, state, national and international resoonsibilities of citizenshiD make 2rave demands today on our oeoole; and ~,/!~HE~E~S, The forty-first annual Public Schools Week which will be held .~oril 25 to 30 will be oresented for the ouroose o~ brin~in~ the oublic and the schools into a closer understanding of the functions and oroblems oF the schools today; now, therefore be it resolved, that we indorse the ouroose of Public Schools Week and urge our citizens to visit one or more schools durin~ the week of ~oril 25 to 30 for the ouroose of see.fn~ what the schools are doin~ in orenairin~ our youth For the resoonsibilites o~ intelligent and usefful citizenshio.
