RESOLUTION OF '(HE C~TY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, Senate Bi I I 853 proposes to create a Gol¢$er~ Gate
tolls ~ a!l regional transportation faci~?ties in' ~he S~ Francisco
Bay area~ including the world--f~ou~ Gotc~e~ Gate Bridge; and,
~HEREAS, The Golden Gate Brid~e wes buil~ by the taxpayers of
the Golden'Gate Bridge an~ Highway District, of which :he City of
Ukiah is a part, without State or Federal financing at a cost of
~3.5~OOO~OOO, the non-cellable ~nds for which are still outstanding
until 197! i~osing e contingent tex liability until thet ti~; and.
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 853 ~uld vioiate the ~rust of all taxpayers
by authorizing ~rpetuai tolls on the Bridge and permitting th~
be diverted to projects entirely separate fr~ the Bridge. thereby
breaking the sole~nn assurances given when the bond issue was su~itted
that the Bridge w~ld re, in toll-free after the bonds were finally
paid;
WHEREAS. the City of Uklah has previously gone on record as
firmly opposing any attested grab of this great bridge and its assets
as being confiscatory, not being a taking under the power of e~inent.

NO~ THEREFORE. the City Council ef the City of Ukiah does hereby
RESOLVE:
That the City Council of the City of Ukiah hereby expresses
opposition- to Senate Bi t I 853 for i ts "rob Peter to pay Paul~' phi
phy0 and the particular opposition of the taxpayers of the C~ty oF
Ukiah to the at. te~te~l inclusion of the Golden Gate B~dge in a~y
scheme, and therefore urges the defeat of Senate Bill
