RESOLUTION NO. 62-30
RESOLUTION PROPOSING "FAIR PLAY"
IN LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATION.
WHEREAS, both California and

In the interest of fair play and justice for all we propose
fol lowing:
1. That we
are opposed to any plan which would divide the
great State of California, and upon that ground we are opposed
to the present Senate Reapportionment plan.
2. That every forward-looking citizen of
from north or south, urban or rural, be urged
work for the good of all within the framework of the time-tested
manner of legislative representation as it now exists.

especially those from northern and rural areas, be urged to
carefully consider the requests of the citizens of Los Angeles
County and other metropolitan areas and to be constantly reminded
that they are the representatives of all of the citizens of all
of the State and that no one of them has the right to represent
purely provincial interests.
4. That all citizens of metropolitan areas, and especially
those of the largest county in the world, Los Angeles, be on
guard against any attempt toward I'over-reaching,, remembering that
all California looks to you for leadership, integrity and justice.
5. That all the people of California, whether they live on
a farm or in a city, in the north, south or central areas, by the
shores of the Pacific or at the foot of the Sierra, forever

remember that we are all citizens of California, and that what is
good for California is good for all of us, and what is bad for
California will ultimately hurt each of us.
The time has come for Californians to stop asking "How will
this legislation help me?" and to start asking,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent
to each member of the California Legislature and to all other
interested parties.
