The Clty Councll RESOLVE: I~HEREAS, there Is State of Callfornla a of the Clty of Uklah does hereby pending before the Supreme Court of the petltlon asking for reapportionment of the supervlsorlal districts of Monterey County so that the number of electors In each dlstrlct be as nearly equal as posslble (Grlffl. n v_, B0~r~ of.Su.oervlto.r$ Of the.CoupTM of. Monterey, S.F. Supervisorlal Dlstrlctinq in Californ!a, by Stuart C. of Public Admlnlstratlon, Leglslative Problems, No. NOW, THEREFORE, Hall, Unlversi ty 5). the City Council published Feb. 1961 of California, by the Bureau Berkeley, 1961 of the City of Uklah finds that there exlsts In Mendoclno County actual dlscrlmination against the voters of the Second District in which Uklah is located In the form of Invidious disenfranchisement of the voters of thls City due to the disproportionate populations in the various supervlsorlal districts which allow a "minority rule" by less than 30% of the voters, and urges that Immediate steps be taken to correct this inequality, and, IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney be authorized and directed to enter the appearance of the City of Uklah as amicus curiae in the Griffin case (Supra) on behalf of the position taken by petltioner In that action.
