pending before the Supreme Court of the
petltlon asking for reapportionment of the
supervlsorlal districts of Monterey County so that the number of
electors In each dlstrlct be as nearly equal as posslble (Grlffl. n

based upon the dtscrlmlnatlon against voters of certain dlstrlcts
due to the dlsproportlonate populatlons In the various dlstrlcts,

WHEREAS, the boundaries of the Supervisorlal Districts of Mendoclno
County have not been adjusted to equalize the county's population
since the year 1880 although the population of the county has risen

of the City of Uklah finds that
there exlsts In Mendoclno County actual dlscrlmination against the
voters of the Second District in which Uklah is located In the form
of Invidious disenfranchisement of the voters of thls City due to the
disproportionate populations in the various supervlsorlal districts
which allow a "minority rule" by less than 30% of the voters, and
urges that Immediate steps be taken to correct this inequality, and,
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney be authorized and
directed to enter the appearance of the City of Uklah as amicus curiae
in the Griffin case (Supra) on behalf of the position taken by
petltioner In that action.
