HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-53 1 2 3 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 19. 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 23 24 25 26 9.7 28 RESOLUTION NO. 96-53 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH ABOLISHING ON-STREET PARKING SPACES AND ESTABLISHING A NO PARKING ZONE/BUS LOADING ZONE ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF MILL STREET ALONG THE FRONTAGE OF 209 WEST MILL STREET AND THE ADJACENT PARCEL LOCATED TO THE WEST WHEREAS, the City Council may by resolution designate portions of streets upon which the standing, parking, or stopping of vehicles is prohibited or ~'estricted pursuant to Article 11, Chapter 1, Division 8, of the Municipal Code; and WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineering Committee (Traffic Engineer) considered the request for the elimination of three on-street parking spaces and the establishment of a bus loading zone on the south side of Mill Street in front of 209 West Mill Street; and WHEREAS, a bus may stop in a no parking zone or red zone if marked or signed as a bus zone pursuant to the California State Vehicle Code; and WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineer recommends that the request for a bus loading zone in front of 209 West Mill Street for the purpose of benefiting adults with developmental disabilities be approved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ukiah City Council that the three existing on-street parking spaces on the south side of Mill Street along the frontage of 209 West Mill Street and the adjacent parcel to the west are abolished and a no-parking zone/bus loading zone shall be established in the location of the abolished on-street parking spaces between the existing driveway of 209 West Mill Street and the existing driveway of the adjacent parcel to the west of 209 West Mill Street, approximately 70 linear feet. For the purposes set forth herein, a van owned and operated by or operated on the behalf of the Ukiah Valley Association of Habilitation for the purposes of transporting adults with developmental disabilities shall be considered as a bus. 1 2 3 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 25 9.6 27 28 vote.
