HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin 06-21-61MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH ~1: - JUNE The City Council convened in regular session in the Council Chambers at 8:00 P.M.~ with Mayor Smalley, Councilmen Runkel, Buxton, and Wagner present. Councilman Banker was absent. A_PPR.OV. AL OF MI.NUTES: -- _On a motion by Councilman Wagner, seconded by Councilman Buxt0n' 'it'--was unanimously carried the minutes of June 14, 1961 be approved as corrected. _APPROVA. L. OF ~ARRANT. S~{ 0.n a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman wagner, it'~as unanimously~-carried Payroll Warrants for the period of June 1 to 15th in the amount of $26,829 87, be approved. ' On a motion by Councilman Runkel, seconded by Councilman Wagne~r, it'~was unanimously carried General Warrants in the amount of $13,854-.86, be approved.. REPORT ON AIR TRAFFIC ,,ORIGIN~A.TING IN UKIAH: The City Attorney reported receiving a third report from C. A. B. concerning air passenger traffic originating from the Ukiah Airport. This report, for the 12 month period ending March 31, 1961, indicated that 2-~48 air passengers originated at Ukiah. The minimum, according to C.A.B., should be 5 passengers. PETITION PROTESTING TRAFFIC HAZARD C_O~RNER OF MAI.N A...ND P.ERKINS STR~...,T.$: A petition containing 32 names was submitted to the Council protesting .a traffic hazard at the corner of Main and Perkins Streets created by parking aroumd the Greyhound Bus Depot. It was Chief Saulsbury, s recommendation that parking be eliminated in front of the Bus Depot, a red zone be in- dicated for the first 20' on the west side of the Bus Depot followed by a loading zone. The Council concurred with the Chief'~s recommendation. REQUEST BY SANTA FE TO MEET WITH THE CITY COUNCIL RE ~I TS,,, .PURC,HA.SE O? WESTERN pAC_I. FI.C: __ The Council was advised ~f a request by Santa Fe to be heard at the next regular meeting concerning their proposed purchase of Western Pacific. Members of the 'C0uncil were in .agreement that time be allowed on the Agenda of ~th$~ June 28th meeting. CLEN BURGER - RE DRAINAGE PROBLEM ON WAUGH LANE: -- - IIi III I I II I I! -- I I Mr. Glen Burger was present regarding his request at the last meeting that the City take necessary step~ to correct the~ drainage problem in Waugh Lane. ~ Mr. Burger was advised by the City Manager that the origin of the water creating the nuisance has been traced, however, as yet a satisfactory solution has not been reached and additional time will be required to study the problem. ACTION DEFERRED ON REQUEST TO CALL FOR BIDS FOR AIRPORT A_DMINISTRATION B,.UI.LDI,NG.:, ~ Inasmuch as the City Attorney has not had an opportunity to review corrections in the specifications for the Airport Administration Building, action was deferred one week on the request for bid call. Mr. Runkel questioned the fact that improvements to Low Gap Road extended only as far as Bush Street. It was his feeling that certain maintenance work be done from Bush Street to the City Limits due to amount of usage as access to the cemetery. MAYO,.R ..S.MALLEY: Mayor Smalley remarked on the progress of several major projects such as curb, gutter and sidewalk on Apple Avenue, Gobbi Street and Thompson Street and the paving of Gobbi Street from Oak to Dora which has been completed. He complimented the property o~ners who have taken part in the curb and gutter program. _ADJOURNMENT: ATTEST: CITY CLEEK As there was no further regular business, Mayor Smalley de- clared the race.ting adjourned at 8:~0 P.M. after which the Council reconvened in a budget session to be followed by a closed personnel session.
