REPORT ON STATUS OF PETITIONS TO C.A.B. RE PACIFIC AIR LINES~.. INC.: The City Attorney reported that the City has received an answer from Pacific Air Lines, Inc. in opposition to the Petition for Reconsideration and a reply in opposition to the Motion for Expeditious Handling. Based upon previous Council authorization the City Attorney stated that he proposed to present responses to each of these documents and file them wi th C. A. B. HEARING TO STUDY "CALIF. WATER RIGHTS HEARINGS RE MILLVIEW AND WILLOW WATER DISTRICTS: The Council was advised that Millview and Willow Water Districts have fi led applications wi th the State Water Rights Board for 3.5 cu. ft. per second water from the underflow of the Russian River. Hearings on these applications will be held in the Council Chambers on February 6th and 7th and the City Attorney will appear in furtherance to a previous protest by the City to these applications being granted. ORD. #550 INTRODUCED "AMENDING UKIAH CITY CODE TO PROVIDE CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS TO THE PROHIBITION AGAINST OCCUPANCY OF TRAILER COACHES OR CAMP CARS OUTSIDE OF TRAILER CAMPS:" Ordinance No. 550 was read by the City Attorney and in- troduced by Councilman Wagner "Ordinance Amending the Ukiah City Code to Provide Certain Exceptions to the Prohibition Against Occupancy of Trailer Coaches or Camp Cars Outside of Trailer Camps". ACQUISITION OF LAND FOR NORTH MAIN STREET IMPROVEMENTS: The City Manager presented a recommendation that the City negotiate to acquire property toward improving Main Street from Gibson Creek to Norton Street at an approximate cost of $5 ,oo0. MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH- JANUARY 24~ 1962 - PAGE 2: On a motion by Councilman Runkel seconded by Councilman Banker, it was unanimously carried the 'City Manager and City Engineer be authorized to acquire land for the widening of Main Street as outlined. ACQUISITION OF LAND FOR WIDENING OF WABASH AVENUE - DORA TO STATE ST: On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman Runkel, it was unanimously carried the City Manager and City~ Engineer be authorized to negotiate for the acquisition of an additional five feet of land on the South side of Wabash from Dora to State Street and on the North side of Wabash from Cresta to State for street widening purposes. In this case curb and gutter will be installed in return for property dedicated to the City. FALLOUT SHELTER SURVEY: The City Manager advised the Council that several loca- tions in the City meet the requirements for fallout shelters. The buildings which meet all qualifications will be stocked with provisions at Federal government expense and from that point on maintenance will become local responsibility. FALSE ARREST INSURANCE: On a motion by Councilman Wagner, seconded by Councilman Buxton, it was unanimously carried the City Manager be auth- rized to instruct police officers to complete applications for false arrest insurance at a cost not to exceed $7.50 per officer per year and refer billing to the City. NORTH BAY DIVISION - LEAGUE MEETING: The Council was again reminded of the North Bay Division, League of California Cities meeting to be held in Sebastopol on Saturday January 27th. COUNCILMAN RUNKEL: Mr. Runkel reported an inquiry from McCarty brothers regarding City interest in the purchase of property adjoin- ing the Standley Street parking lot. COUNCILMAN WAGNER: Mr. Wagner reported that Fort Bragg adopted a resolution supporting Ukiah's petition to C.A.B. regarding Pacific Air Lines.
