The City Council of the City of Ukiah convened in adjourned session to canvass the ballots cast at the General Municipal Election held on April 10, 1962. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers wi th Mayor Smalley, Councilmen'Runkel, Buxton, Banker and Wagner present. ABSENTEE BALLOTS: The Clerk reported that no absent ballots were received. CANVASS OF VOTES: The Tally Lists from the three precinct boards were checked by the Council and all were found to be correct. RESOLUTION NO. 62-33 "DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION" The Clerk read aloud, for the benefit of the Council, Resolution No. 62-33 "Resolution Declaring Results of Election." On a motion by Councilman Wagner, seconded by Councilman Runkel, it was unanimously carried that Resolution No. 62-33 be adopted and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same. RESOLUTION NO. 62-33 DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION WHEREAS, it appears that Notice of Election was duly and legally given, that voting precincts were properly established, that Election Officers were appointed and election supplies furnished, and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast at said election received and canvassed, and the returns thereof made, determined, and declared in time, form and manner as required by the laws of the State of California providing for and regulating Municipal Elections in cities of the General Law Class, and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City of Ukiah met in the Council Chambers thereof on Tuesday, the 17th day of April, 1962, to canvass returns of said election and install the newly elected officers, and ~/HEREAS, the City Council finds as a result of said canvass, the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, and other matters as required by law to be as hereinafter stated, NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved, determined and declared as fol lows: That said General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Ukiah on Tuesday, April 10, 1962, in time, form and manner prescribed by law; That there were three (3) voting precincts established in said City for the purpose of holding said election as follows: Consolidated Voting Precinct "A" comprising Precincts Nos. one, two, three, four, five, six and seven; Consolidated Voting Precinct "B" comprising Precincts Nos. eight, nine, ten, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen; Consolidated Voting Precinct "C" comprising Precincts Nos. eleven, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen and twenty, established for holding State and County elections. That the whole number of votes cast in Consolidated Voting Precinct "A" was 271; the whole number of votes cast in Consolidated Voting Precinct "B" was 253; and the whole number of votes cast in Consolidated Voting Precinct "C" was 301; that the whole number of votes cast in said City of Ukiah was 825. RESOLVED THEREFORE, that at said General Municipal Election held in the City of Ukiah, April 10, 1962, the following persons were elected to the following offices respectively: ERNEST F. BANKER was elected a member of the City Council for the full term of four years from and after April 17, 1962 and until his successor is elected and qualified. RALPH I. BUXTON was elected a member of the City Council for the full term of four years from and after April 17, 1962 and until his successor is elected and qualified. Dated this 17th day of April, 1962. City Cler~ - OATH OF OFFICE AND CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION CITY COUNCIL: The two newly elected councilmen, Ernest F. Banker and Ralph I. Buxton, were given the Constitutional Oath of Office by the Clerk and Certificates of Election were duly certified and placed on file. ELECTION OF MAYOR: Mayor Smalley declared nominations open for Mayor. On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman Runkel Roy ~,Vagner was nominated and elected on a unanimous ballotas Mayor for the term of one year beginning April 17, 1962. ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM: On a motion by Councilman Banker, seconded by Councilman Buxton, Herman Runkel was nominated and elected on a unanimous ballot as Mayor Pro Tem for the term of one year beginning April 17, 1962. This matter will be taken off the calendar until further noti ce. ADJOURNMENT: ATTEST' C I TYCL;RK As there was no further regular business, Mayor Wagner declared the meeting adjourned at 8:15 P.M.
