AUGUST 8~ 1962
The City Council convened in regular session in the Council
Chambers at 8:20 P.M. wi th Mayor Wagner, Councilmen Runkel
and Buxton present. Councilmen Smalley and Banker, City
Manager LyelI Cash and City Attorney Harold Irish were
absent. A.S. Kruth was Acting City Manager.
APPROVAL OF WARRANTS:
On a motion by Councilman Runkel, seconded by Councilman
Buxton, it was unanimously carried Payroll Warrants for
the period July 15th to 31st, 1962 be approved in the
amount of $31,157.42 and ordered paid.
On a motion by Councilman Runkel, seconded by Councilman
Buxton, it was unanimously carried General Warrants #3501
and 3502 in the total amount of $536.84 be approved and
ordered paid.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On a motion by Councilman Runkel, seconded by Councilman
Buxton, it was unanimously carried the minutes of August 1,
1962 be approved as submitted by the Clerk.
JR. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
SEAT BELT CLINIC
Mr. Clay Duncan of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce was present
requesting the Council support a seat belt clinic to be
held August 25th and 3Oth and September 8, 1962 on the
South side of Seminary Avenue from School to Oak Street.
Seat belts will be sold and installed as a community
service by the group.
On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman
Runkel it was unanimously carried the Jr. Chamber of
Commerce be granted permission to use the South Side of
Seminary Avenue for a seat belt clinic as requested and
the Mayor issue a proclamation endorsing this program.
ENCROACHMENT PERMIT - ARTHUR
M. CORIPPO: - ~O W. STEPHENSON ST.:
On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman
Runkel, it was unanimously carried encroachment permit be granted
to Arthur H. Corippo to encroach on street right-of-way
of Dora Street adjacent to his dwelling at 530 W. Stephenson
Street and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same.
REPORT ON MEETING WITH OFFICIALS
FROM THE STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM:
The Di rector of Public Works reported meeting wi th State
Retirement officials in a three hour session today to
discuss setting up the reporting system for City employees.
The system will become effective as of August 1st wi th
deductions to be taken out of the August 23rd payroll.
LETTER FROM DIV. OF HIGHWAYS
REGARDING RELOCATION OF UTILITIES
FOR FREEWAY CONSTRUCTION:
The Director of Public Works reported receiving a letter
from the Division of Highways verifying that certain utilities
will require re-routing along East Perkins and East Gobbi
due to planned freeway approach construction. The first
contract for structural construction of freeway approaches
will be awarded in January 1963 and contracts for paving
will be awarded in 1964.

Mr. Kruth noted that the cost of relocating the utilities
will require negotiation with the State al though it will
be the City's responsibility to prepare the necessary
plans and perform the work required.
COUNCILMAN RUNKEL:
Mr. Runkel reported that a dead fir tree at the Golf
Course should be removed.
ADJOURNMENT
As there was no further regular business, Mayor Wagner
declared the meeting adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
