SEPTEMBER 12, 1962
The City Council convened in regular session in the Council
Chambers at 8:00 P.M. with Councilmen Runkel, Banker and Smalley
present. Mayor Wagner and Councilman Buxton were absent.
Councilman Runkel was Mayor Pro 'tempore.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
On a motion by Councilman Smalley, seconded by Councilman Banker,
]-t was unanimously carried the minutes of September 5, 1962 be
approved as submitted by the Clerk.
RES. NO. 63-14 GRANTING
VARIANCE TO MAURICE COX..
On a motion by Councilman Smalley, seconded by Councilman Banker,
it was unanimously carried Res. No. 63-14 be adopted and the
Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same "Resolution Granting
Variance to Maurice Cox" to move house from 157 Thomas St. to
1140 Beacon Way.
RES. NO. 63-15 GRANTING
VARIANCE TO THE ALBERTINUM..
On a motion by Councilman Banker, seconded by Councilman Smalley,
"~t was unanimously carried Res. No. 63-15 be adopted and the
Mayor and Clerk are authorized to sign same "Resolution Granting
Variance to the Albertinum" to construct a 6 foot fence on
property lines at W. Church and Thompson Streets.
RES. NO. 63-16 GRANT'ING VARIANCE
TO NORMAN J. & JEANETTE L. BELDEN:
On a motion by Councilman Smalley, seconded by Councilman Banker,
it was unanimously carried Res. No. 63-16 be adopted and the Mayor
and Clerk are authorized to sign same "Resolution Granting Variance
to Norman J. and Jeanette L. Belden" to permit expansion of exist-
ing trailer park at 778 S. State St. into adjacent R-1 zoned
property.
RES. NO. 63-18 ACCEPTANCE OF COMPLETED
IMPROVEMENTS; FAIRWAY OAKS SUBDV. UNIT #3:
On a motion by Councilman Banker, seconded by Councilman Smalley,
it was unanimously carried Res. No. 63-18 be adopted and the
Mayor and Clerk are authorized to sign same "Acceptance of Completed
Improvements; Fairway Oak Subdivision Unit No. 3".
REQUEST TO CALL FOR BIDS FOR CONCRETE
WORK - MAIN ST. WIDENING PROJECT:
COUNCILMAN BUXTON ARRIVED AT THIS POINT IN THE MEETING - 8:15 P.M.
On a motion by Councilman Smalley, seconded by Councilman Banker,
it was unanimously carried the City Clerk be authorized to call
for bids for construction of concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks
and driveways on Main Street, between Gibson Creek and Norton
Street, and Norton Street, between State Street and Mason Street,
bids to be opened at 2:00 P.M., September 25, 1962.
REQUEST TO CALL FOR BIDS FOR PAVING-
MAIN STREET WIDENING PROJECT:
On a motion by Councilman Banker, seconded by Councilman Buxton,
it was unanimously carried the City Clerk be authorized to call
for bids for construction of asphalt concrete pavement on Main
Street, between Gibson Creek and Norton Street, and Norton Street,
between State St. and Mason Street, bids to be opened at 2:00
P.M. October 9, 1962.

BID CALL DEFERRED ON PICKUPS
AND PASSENGER CAR:
Inasmuch as the City Manager was unable to obtain written
specifications on 1963 model pickups and passenger cars, as
they are not yet available, action was' deferred on this
matter to a future meeting.
RES. NO. 63-17 PERMITTING CITY ATTORNEY
TO ENGAGE IN PRIVATE PRACTICE OF LAW, AND
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 60-19:
On a motion by Councilman Smalley, seconded by Councilman
Buxton, it'"was unanimously carried Res. No. 63-17 be adopted
and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same "Resolut-
ion Permitting City Attorney to Engage in Private Practice
of Law, and Amending Resolution No. 60-19".
NEGOTIATIONS TO PURCHASE
OFFICE BUILDING:
On a motion by Councilman Banker, seconded by Councilman
Buxton, i~' was unanimously carried the City Manager be author-
Ized to negotiate with Durable Plywood and invite an offer
for the purchase of their office building not to exceed $10,0OO,
subject to the City's ability to move the structure as a single
unit.
COUNCILMAN BANKER:
Mr. Banker inquired if the City had a policy requiring side-
walks in commercial areas where new curb and gutter is installed
and suggested this matter be investigated. The City Manager will
prepare a report for presentation at a future meeting.
COUNCILMAN SMALLEY:
Mr. Smalley reported that the hole in the street at the
entrance to the Fraga Building has not been repaired.
ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further regular business, Mayor Pro tempore,
Herman Runkel declared the meeting adjourned at 8:40 P'.M.
