HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin 09-20-62233 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH SEPTEMBER 19, 1962 Due to the lack of a quorum Councilman Runkel, Mayor Pro-tem in the absence of Mayor Wagner, declared the meeting adjourned to Thursday, September 20, 1962 at 7:00 P.M. MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH SEPTEMBER 20, 1962: The City Council convened in adjourned session in the Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M. with Mayor Wagner, Councilmen Runkel, Buxton, and Banker present. Councilman Smalley was absent. NOTICE OF COMPLETION AUTHORIZED FOR STREET PAVING OF DORA FROM MILL TO MENDOCINO DRIVE - ABSCO PAVING CO: On a motion by Councilman Banker, seconded by Councilman Runkel, it was unanimously carried the paving of Dora Street from Mill to Mendocino Drive by Absco Paving be accepted and the Clerk be authorized to file the necessary Notice of Completion. APPROVAL OF WARRANTS: On a motion by Councilman Runkel, seconded by Councilman Buxton, it was unanimously carried General Warrants in the amount of $78,883.31 be approved and ordered paid. COUNCILMAN SMALLEY ARRIVED AT THIS POINT IN THE MEETING - 7:03 P.M. On a motion by Councilman Banker, seconded-by Councilman Runkel, it was unanimously carried Payroll Warrants for the period Sept. 1st to 15th, 1962 be approved and ordered paid in the amount of $27,903.51. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: On a motion by Councilman Runkel~ seconded by Councilman Buxton, i"t was unanimously carried the minutes of the meeting of Sept. 12, 1962 be approved as submitted by the Clerk. RES. 63-19 ADOPTING AND SUBMITTING A BUDGET FOR EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS ALLOCATED FROM THE STATE HIGHWAY FUND TO CITIES: On a motion by Councilman Smalley_, seconded by Councilman Buxton, it was unanimously carried Res'63 -19 be adopted and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same "Res. of the City Council of the City of Ukiah Adopting and Submitting a Budget for Expenditure cf Funds Allocated from the State Highway Fund to Cities. CITY VS. CIVIL AERONAUTICS BOARD: The City Attorney reported that he will submit a brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals in the case of City of Ukiah vs. Civil Aeronautics Board on Friday of this week. AGREEMENT AMENDING AGREEMENT WITH SHELL OIL CO. FOR PROPANE GAS: On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman Smalley, it was unanimously carried agreement amending agreement with Shell Oil Company for supplying propane gas be approved as read by the City Mana§er and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same. 1961-62 AUDIT REPORT: Copies of the 1961-62 Audit Report were distributed for Council review. The City Manager will outline certain recommendations sub- mitted in the report by memorandum to the Council. MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH SEPTEMBER 20~ 1962 - PAGE 2. MENDO. CO. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES OPEN HOUSE - SEPT. 20, 1962.. An invitation was extended members of the Council to attend an Open House to be held at the Mendo. Co. Mental Health Services 7:30- 10:O0 P.M. Sept. 20, 1962. TRAFFIC ORDINANCE DISCUSSION MEETING: A discussion meeting regarding a proposed traffic ordinance will be held in the City Manager's office Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1962 at 7'.OO P.M. REPORT ON PROPOSED PURCHASE OF OFFICE BLDG. FROM DURABLE PLYWOOD: The City Manager reported that it appears favorable that the City's negotiation to purchase the Durable Plywood office building may be agreeable, however, the State Div. of Highways will not permit the building to be moved on Highway 101 to the City of Ukiah. The possibility of moving the building on the freeway is being investigated. REPORT ON SALES TAX RECEIPTS: The City Manager reported that final sales tax receipts for the second quarter of the calendar year have been received and are slightly more than $7,000 over the amount received for the same period last year. RESERVATIONS FOR LEAGUE MEETING IN LOS ANGELES: The City Manager requested confirmation of reservations for the League Meeting in Los Angeles in order that arrangements for transportation can be made. COUNCILMAN RUNKEL: Mr. Runkel reminded members of the Council that Mayor Christopher of San Francisco will be in Ukiah on Friday, Sept. 22, 1962 at 5:00 P.M.
