NOVEMBER 2~ .1962
The City Council convened in adjourned session in the Council
Chambers at 1:OO P.M. wi th Mayor Wagner, Councilmen Runkel,
Buxton and Banker present. Councilman Smalley was absent.
PROPOSAL BY VAN NESS HOUSE MOVING
CO. TO MOVE DURABLE PLYWOOD OFFICE BLDG.
Mr. Van Ness of the Van Ness House Moving Company Vallejo, was present
and submitted a verbal quotation of $2,875.00, excluding foundation,
less $75 if truck rental is unnecessary, for moving the Durable
Plywood office building from Calpella to Ukiah Municipal Airport
as a single unit. It was noted that Mr. Van Ness is properly licensed
for this type of work and does maintain Workmen's Compensation
and liability insurance. Additional insurance required by the City
would be at its expense.
Additional cost for moving the building in two units would be
$1,OOO under the same conditions as listed above.
The City Manager reported that Dale Barber of Northern Calif. Movers
& Builders is agreeable to doing the job for $300 per day with a
four man crew with no guarantee on time of move or completion.

ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER OF DURABLE
PLYWOOD OFFICE BUILDING - ~10,0.00:
On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman Banker,
it was carried by a 3-1 vote the City accept the offer of Durable
Fir & Plywood Company for purchase of their office building in the
sum of $10,OOO, subject to written consent of the owners or representa-
tive that such building may remain in its present location beyond the
30 day limit expressed in such offer in the event weather or other
circumstances prevent moving, with the responsibility for policing
and protection past the 30 day limit to be assumed by City.
AYES: Councilmen Buxton, Banker and Wagner.
NOES: Councilman Runkel.
ABSENT' Councilman Smalley.
AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT
WITH VAN NESS HOUSE MOVING COMPANY:
On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman Banker,
it was unanimously carried that, contingent upon the acceptance
by Durable Fir & Plywood Co. of the conditional acceptance
heretofore made by City for purchase of their office building,
the City Manager be authorized to enter into a contract with Van
Ness House Moving Co. for the moving of the Durable Fir & Plywood
Co. office building in substantially the same form as the draft
read by the City Attorney, in the sum of $2,875 for moving such
building in one piece and an additional $],OOO in the event cutting is
necessary and removal as two pieces, with the condition that weather
permits such moving. The City Manager is authorized to negotiate for
the times of performance by contractor.
ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further business, Mayor Wagner declared the
meeting adjourned at 1'38 P.M.
