HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin 09-25-63352 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKi/~H SEPTEMBER 25~ 1963 The City Council convened in regular session in the Council Chambers at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Runkel, Councilmen Buxton and Smalley present. Councilmen :,~tagner and Banker were absent. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion by Councilman .Smalley, seconded by Councilman Buxton, it was unanimously carried the minutes of September 18, 1963 be approved as submitted by the Clerk. PUBLIC HEARING ON COSTS FOR '~/EED ABATEMENT POSPONED The City Manager recommended that due to procedural problems the public hearing on the costs of weed abatement be postponed until October 9th when the City Attorney will be present. On a motion by Councilman Buxton, seconded by Councilman Smalley, it was unanimously carried the public hearing on the costs of weed abatement be postponed until October 9, 1963 at 8:00 P.M. as recommended by the City Manager. COUNCILMAN WAGNER ARRIVED AT THIS POINT IN THE MEETING - 8:03 P.M. RES. NO. 64-17 ESTABLISHING PREVP~ILING RATE OF WAGES APPLICABLE TO PUBLIC WORK On a motion by Councilman Smalley, seconded by Councilman Buxton, it was unanimously carried Resolution No. 64-13 be adopted and the Hayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same "Resolution Establishing General Prevailing Rate of Wages Applicable to Public Work." RES. NO. 64-16 INTENTION TO VACATE PORTION OF UNNAMED ALLEY SOUTH OF RUDDOCK AVE. BETWEEN OAK AND SCHOOL STREETS Cna motion by Councilman '~4agner, seconded by Councilman Buxton, it was unanimously carried Resolution No. 64-16 be adopted and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same "Resolution of Intention to Vacate Portion of Unnamed Alley South of Ruddock Avenue and Between Oak and School Streets." REPORT ON SALES TAX RECEIPTS MAY 8 - AUG. 8, 1~)63 The City Manager reported that sales tax receipts for the period c,f May 8 to August 8, 1963 were $61 ,855.94, an increase of $8,344.94 or 17% over the same quarter of 1962. APPROVAL OF SPECIAL WARRANT On a motion by Councilman Smalley, seconded by Councilman Buxton, it was unanimously carried special warrant #5489 in the amount of $250.00 be approved and ordered paid. WATER OUTAGE SCHEDULED O/~K MANOR DR. - SEPT. 28TH The Council was informed that water service to the residents of Oak Manor Drive would be interrupted for approximately 4 hours on Saturday, September 28th, while connection to the new main is being made. According to the City Manager all property owners affected have been notified. 35 ' DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS ATTENDING A.W.W.A. CONFERENCE I The City Manager informed the Council that the Director of Public ~orks was attending the A.W.'c/.A. Conference in San Francisco for the balance of the current week. COUNCILMAN RUNKEL Councilman Runkel inquired as to when the paving of Clay St. would be complete and was informed that this work should be finished in approximately two weeks. ADJOURNMENT As there was no further regular business, Mayor Runkel declared the meeting adjourned at 8:22 P.M. ATTEST: CITY CL'E RK~
