FEBRUARY 3, 1965
COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF UKIAH
The City Council convened in regular session in the Council
Chambers at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Buxton, Councilmen Norgard,
Crook, scotto and Harlowe present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
On a motion by Councilman Crook, seconded by Councilman
Norgard, i"t~' was unanimously carried the minutes of January
1965 be approved as submitted by the Clerk.

PAYROLL WARRANTS
On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman
Scotto, it was unanimously carried payroll warrants for the
period of Janua_ry 16th through 31st, 1965 be approved in the
amount of $31,489.98.
SPECIAL WARRANTS
On a motion by Councilman Harlowe, seconded by Councilman
Scotto, it was unanimously carried special warrants in the
amount of $4,715.29 be approved and ordered paid.

FURTHER DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED
ORDINANCE TO GRANT GAS FRANCHISE
The City Attorney. summarized his contacts with Mr. Sproul,
Attorney for P.G. & E., and pointed out points of agreement
and disagreement. The Council re-established its stand that
a performance bond should be required. The City Attorney was
instructed to pursue the matter further and reach agreement on
wording satisfactory to both the City and P.G. & E.
BID CALL AUTHORIZED FOR CORRUGATED
METAL PIPE ARCH
On a motion by Councilman Crook, seconded by Councilman Harlowe,
it was unanimously carried the Clerk be authorized to call for
bids for 650 feet of 36" x 22" and 320 feet of 50" x 31~l cor-
rugated metal pipe arch in accordance with the specifications,
bids to be opened at 2:00 P.M., February 23' 1965.
DIV. OF FORESTRY REQUEST TO
LEASE ADDITIONAL AIRPORT PROPERTY
The City Manager reviewed a request by the Division of Forestry
to lease additional space at the Airport for the coming fire
season and stated that the matter had been discussed with the
Chairman of the Airport Commission. A special meeting of the
Commission will be called in order to'determine its recommenda-
tion to the Council on this request.
COUNCILMAN NORGARD
Councilman Norgard complimented Mayor Buxton for his fine work
in connection with the election pertaining to the gas system,
and Hayor Buxton expressed his appreciation to the entire
Council for their contribution toward this project.

STREET LIGHTS - NO. STATE ST.
Mr. Kruth, the Director of Public Works, called the Council's
attention to the new street lights installed on State St.
between Low Gap Rd. and Empire Drive.
COUNCILMAN SCOTTO
Councilman Scotto asked if there was not an existing vacancy
on the Library Board of Trustees and was informed by Mayor
Buxton that a personnel meeting will be held in the near
future to consider filling the vacancy.
COUNCILMAN NORGARD APPOINTED TO
LOCAL AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION
Mayor Buxton announced the appointment of Councilman Norgard
to the Local Agency Formation Commission to represent the
cities of the county on the Commission.
ADJOURNMENT
As there was no further regular business, Mayor Buxton declared
the meeting adjourned at 9:03 P.M. to an adjourned meeting at
7:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 9, 1965 for the purpose of can-
vassing the ballots and declaring the results of the special
election held February 2, 1965.
