The City Attorney reported that a deed has been obtained from
Edwin and Yvonne Cadd and Lawrence E. and Sally Johns 'For Parcel
~/8 oF the Perkins Street widening project, and recommended approval
of a standard right of way contract providing For payment o'f
.'-~'~u. O0 '[:or the additional right o~' way acquired.
On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Scotto,
i-t was unanimously carried the Right of Way Contract between the
City and the owners of Perkins Street Parcel ¢/8 be approved and
the Hayor and Clerk be authorized to si~n same.

Proposed Ordinance No. 573 "An Ordinance Adopting By Reference The
1965 Edition OF The Fire Prevention Code Prescribing Regulations
Governing Conditions Hazardous To Life And Property From Fire Or
Explosion, Providin9 For Penalties For The Violation Thereof,
And Repealing Sections 5200 and ~201 Of The Ukiah City Code" was
read in Full by the City Attorney and introduced by Councilman
Scotto.

BAIRD ADVERTISING AGENCY
CONTRACT CANCELLED
The City Attorney reported that he had not received a reply to
his letter of August 24th to Mrs. Baird, and recommended the
Council take formal action terminating the contract with Baird
Advertising Agency For the reasons set forth in that letter.
On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Harlowe,
it was unanimously carried the contract between the City and Baird
Advertising Agency be terminated for the reasons stated in the
City Attorney's letter to Mrs. Baird dated August 24, ]965.
Mayor Buxton reported that the costs of locating more refuse cans
throughout the City is currently being investigated by the City
Manager's office.
RICHARD L. HALL - CLAIM
FOR DAMAGES DENIED
The City Attorney reviewed a claim -Filed August 31, 1965 by
Richard L. rial1 in the amount of $15.O0 -For damages alleged
to have occurred to his automobile on August 25, 1965 from
road oil sprayed in the vicinity of where it was parked at
Pine and Standley Streets. It was recommended the claim be
denied.
On a motion by Councilman Scotto, seconded by Councilman
it was unanimously carried the claim of Richard L. Hall
filed August 31, 1965 be denied.

15 400 WATT MERCURY VAPOR LUMINAIRES
Specifications were presented for the Council's approval for
15 galvanized steel light poles and 15 400 Watt mercury vapor
luminaires to be installed in connection with lighting the
freeway overcrossings at Perkins and Gobbi Streets.
On a motion by Councilman Crook, seconded by Councilman Norgard,
it was unanimously carried the City Clerk be authorized to
call for bids for 15 galvanized steel light poles as per specifi-
cations presented, bids to be opened at 2:00 P.M., September 21,
1965.
On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Crook,
it was unanimously carried the City Clerk be authorized to call
for bids for 15 400 Watt mercury vapor l iminaires in accordance
with the specific~:':'~i~s presented, bids to be opened at 2:00 P.M.
September 21, 1965.
CONSIDERATION OF VARIANCE APPLICATION NO. 66-1
POSTPONED
The Council approved the City Attorney's request that consideration
of Variance Applicatin #-66-1 by Thomas A. Nicholson, M.D. et al,
be postponed until the time of the public hearing to be held
September 15th on the request of the applicants for abandonment
of a public service easement located on the property involved.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT DISTRIBUTED
The City Attorney distributed to the Council copies of the Financial
Statement as of June 30, 1965 as prepared by the Director of Finance.

Councilman Crook requested a report of progress to date on the
Water Improvement Project as discussed during the budget
hearings, and asked when a report is expected to be made to
tlne Council in connection witln the project. The City Attorney
stated that pertinent data is being collected for such a report,
but it has not been definitely determined when i-t will be
complete.
Councilman Crook also enquired into the status o-F the other
capital improvement proj~.c y

been received for over a month and agreed to write a letter

City Manager relative to the designa'kion o'F authority duFin5
absences o? City officials, and expressed objections to the
City Hanager and Director of Public Works being absent at the
same time without prior approval of the Council.
