The City Council convened in regular session in the
Chambers at 8:02 P.M. with Mayor Buxton, Counci]men

Application For Use Permit and Variance No. 66-1 by Thomas A
Nicholson, M.D., Hugh P. Curtis, H.D., and Robert A. Kraft, H.D.
to permit construction of a 3 suite medical office on property
located at Pomolita Drive and South Dora Streets now zoned
(2/3 of property) and R-1 (1/3 of property) and reduction of
'front setback to 16' was reviewed by the City Manager The
memo of the City Engineer dated August 5, 1955, was aisc reviewed
'through the area of the proposed building, it was recommended
by the Planning Commission the use permit be granted subject to
the obtaining of the necessary variance, and that the Commission
recommend to the City Council approval of the requested variance.
On a motion by Councilman Crook, seconded by Councilman Scotto,
it was unanimously carried the City Attorney be instructed to
prepare a resolution 9ranting Variance No.66-1 to Thomas A.
Nicholson, M.D., Hugh P. Curtis, M.D., and Robert A. Kraft, M.D.
as recommended by the Plannin9 Commission.
TAXICAB RATES, CHARGES
AND REGULATIONS
The City Hanager read the taxicab rates, charges, and regulations
which have been brou3ht up to date along with a current schedule
of taxicab flat rates.
On a motion by Councilman Crook, seconded by Councilman Scotto,
~t was carried by the followin9 roll call vote Resolution No.
~6-15 be adopted and the Hayor and Clerk be authorized to sign

WATER PRODUCTION
EXPANSION PROGRAH
The City Manager reported information is bein9 compiled in
connection with a future source of water supply for the City.
This project will require a current rate ana]ysis and informa-
tion on rates throughout this area have been obtained. The
first step of this project is to have a geological survey made
of three potential sites. This survey can be made by the Ranney
Method Western Corporation at a cost not to exceed $3,800.
After a discussion of the three possible locations, the Council
indicated their approval of obtainin9 additional information by
contactin9 the Ranney Collector representative.

On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman

ORRESPONDENCE -
!VISION OF HIGHWAYS
The City Manager read a letter from Mr. J. H. Anderson City-
County Projects Engineer -For the Division of Highways statin2
he and Mr. Joe Thorne will attend the next City Council meeting.
Their attendance will be strictly as spectators although they
will be glad to answer any questions in regard to City and
County Projects and the Collier-Unruh Transportation ~ct.

from nine residents on Cherry Street protesting installation

ED SCHOOL DISTRICT
The City Manager advised a letter has been received from the
Division of Highways stating there appears to be sufficient
justification ~r the overpass between Gobbi and Perkins
Streets to warrant serious consideration being given its
construction. Further details are under way between the
School District and the Division of Highways. This project
was recently reactivated by the Unified School District
because of their concern regardin9 students reachin9 the
Oak Manor School.
GIBSON CREEK
BANK PROTECTION
The City Manager showed the Council photographs of the Gibson
Creek bank showing the conditions that prevail as a result of
1964-winter floods. The damage needs to be repaired prior
to the rains and an answer should be given the property owners.
Hr. Ben Madison, 2~1 Warren Drive was present registering a
complaint and stating the necessity of something being done
about the condition of the creek. The Council discussed the
matter and agreed to wait for an opinion from the City ~ttorney
as soon as he returned from vacation.
COUNCILMAN CROOK
Councilman Crook enquired as to an open manhole at the old
Sewage Treatment Plant and was advised that the area was
reasonably safe.
Councilman Crook had been advised that Friday, September 17
Constitution Day. The City Manager stated he would advise
Junior Chamber of Commerce and request to have the flags
flying on that day.

Councilman Crook requested and was granted permission by the
Council to be absent from the State for approximately ~ weeks.
COUNCILMAN SCOTTO
Councilman Scotto stated he had been asked if the

Councilman Scotto requested information regarding contract to
furnish radio dispatching for Highway patrol and was advised
that information was being accumulated on which to base a
later report to the Council.
Councilman Scotto requested information regarding garbage
service and was advised that a report and recommendation would
be complete approximately October 1, 1965.
Councilman Scotto reminded Council that a vacancy still
existed on the Recreation and Parks Commission.
