HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin 04-19-66MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH APRIL 19, 1966 __ of the City Of Ukiah The City Council/convened in regular session as requi red by law, to canvass the ballots cast at the General Municipal Election held on April 12, 1966. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers with Mayor Buxton, Councilmen Norgard, Crook, Scotto and Harlowe present. CANVASS OF VOTES The Results of Votes Cast at the five consolidated precincts were checked by the Council and all were found to be correct. RESOLUTION NO. 66-/+I+A"RESOLUTION DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTIONI' On a motion by Councilman Crook, it was unanimously adopted and the Mayor and Scotto, seconded by Councilman carried Resolution No. 66-44 be Clerk be authorized to sign same. RESOLUTION NO. 66-4l~ DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION WHEREAS, it appears that Notice of Election was duly and legally given, that votin9 precincts were properly es- tablished, and tlmat in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast at said election received and canvassed, and the returned thereof made, determined, and declared in time, form and manner as requi red by the laws of the State of California providing for and regulatin9 Hunicipal Elections in ci ties of the General Law Class, and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City of Ukiah met in the Council Chambers thereof on Tuesday, the lgth day of April, 1966, to canvass returns of said election and install the newly elected officers, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds as a result of said canvass, the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, and other matters as required by law to be as hereinafter stated, NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved, determined and declared as follows: That said General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Ukiah on Tuesday, April 12, 1966, in time, form and manner prescribed by law; That there were five (5) voting precincts established in said City for the purpose of holding said election as f o 1 1 ows: Consolidated Voting Precinct "A" compri sing Precincts Nos. one, two.and seven; Consolidated Votin9 Precinct "B" compri sin9 Precincts Nos. three, four, five, six, eight and nine; Consolidated Voting Precinct "C" comprising Precincts Nos. twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen; Consolidated Voting Precinct I'D" comprising Precincts Nos. ten, eleven, seventeen and eighteen; Consolidated Votin9 Precinct "E" comprisin9 Precincts Nos. sixteen, nineteen and twenty. That the matters enumerated in Section 22933 of the Elections Code are contained in the Statement of Election, which such statement is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. RESOLVED, THEREFORE, that at said General Municipal Election held in the City of Ukiah, April ]2, 1966 the fo]lowin9 persons were elected to the fol]owin9 offices respect i vel y: 240 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE Cl TY OF UKIAH _APRIL 19, ] 966 - PAGE 2 BRUCE D. CROOK was elected a member of the City Council for the full term of four years from and after April 19, 1966 and until his successor is elected and qualified. HAROLD D. HENDERSON was elected a member of the City for the full term of four years from and after April and until his successor is elected and qualified. Crook and D. Henderson, were given the Constitutional Oath of by the Clerk and presented with official Certificates Harold Office of Election. ELECTION OF MAYOR Members of the Council retired to an adjoining office in Closed Personnel Session for the purpose of election of a Mayor. Upon their return, Councilman Norgard took the chai r as Mayor and conducted the remainder of the meetin9. RESOLUTION NO. 66-45 COMMENDING RALPH I. BUXTON UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CITY COUNCIL OF UKIAH On a motion by Councilman Crook, it was carried by the following be adopted and the Mayor anc "Resolution Commending Ralph The City Council of Ukiah."
