DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED
ORDINANCE TO CONTROL WATERWAYS
The City Attorney reviewed again a proposed ordinance which, if
adopted, would control and regular water channels running through
the City. The purpose of said ordinance would be to keep garbage
and other debris out of the channels and to regulate adequate im-
provement of said channels by the property owners. It was pointed
out that other cities with similar channel drainage problems have
adopted ordinances similar to the one proposed. Council discussion
indicated a desire for an ordinance which would encourage improvement
of the channels. It was pointed out that any control and regulation
of channels would create problems beyond the city limits. Council
requested postponement of the matter to the May 7th meeting at which
time the matter will again be considered.
