MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH
OCTOBER 11, 1972
The City Council convened in adjourned session in the Council Chambers at 8:03 p.m.
with Councilman Weinkauf, Norgard, Simpson, Pearson and Mayor Buxton present.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Councilman Weinkauf led in the pledge of allegiance.
PAYROLL WARRANTS
On a motion by Councilman Weinkauf, seconded by Councilman Norgard, it was unani-
mously carried Payroll Warrants #2162 to #2324 inclusive be approved in the
total amount of $59,022.78.
GENERAL WARRANTS
On a motion by Councilman Simpson, seconded by Councilman Pearson, it was unani-
mously carried General Warrants #574 to #682 inclusive, in the total amount of
$117,792.61 be approved and ordered paid.
PROCLAMATION - NATIONAL LEGAL SECRETARIES' OBSERVANCE WEEK
Mayor Buxton read subject proclamation declaring the second week in October as
National Legal Secretaries' Observance Week and urged the citizens of Ukiah
to observe this week as such and attend the local court sessions to gain a
bwtter knowledge of our legal profession.
PROCLAMATION - UNITED WAY WEEK
Mayor Buxton read subject proclamation declaring the week of October 15 thru 21
"United Way Week" in Ukiah and called upon all citizens to volunteer their best
efforts and time to the United Way, to increase their contributions, and to be
grateful for the help offered all citizens of the City of Ukiah by United Way
services.
PLAQUE OF APPRECIATION TO A.S. KRUTH
Mayor Buxton presented Mr. Al Kruth with a plaque expressing the Council' s appre-
ciation of his service as Acting City Manager during the time of Mr. Cash' s sick
leave and subsequent retirement. Mr. Kruth accepted with words of appreciation.
AWARD OF BID FOR GREENS MOWER
TO VALLEY EQUIPMENT COMPANY
City Manager reviewed bids received for subject mower as follows and recommended
the bid be awarded to Valley Equipment Company:
H. V. Carter Company, Inc. , Oakland - Did not meet specifications
Valley Equipment Company, Ukiah - $3500.00 Net F.O.B. Ukiah, 7 day ARO
Toro Pacific Distributing, Burlingame - No bid bond.
On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Pearson, it was unani-
mously carried to award the bid for one tri-plex greens mower to Valley Equip-
ment Company, Ukiah, as recommended.
AWARD OF BID FOR A.C. SURFACINGS
TO PARNUM PAVING, INC. , UKIAH
City Manager reported only one bid was received for subject project - Parnum
Paving, Inc. in the total amount of $25,380. Said amount is in line with
the Engineer' s estimate and it was recommended the bid be awarded to Parnum
Paving.
On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Pearson, it was unani-
mously carried to award the bid for asphalt surfacings on Todd Road, Wabash
Avenue, Observatory, Maple, Oak Manor Drive, West Standley, Mill Street to Parnum
Paving, Inc. as recommended.

Councilman Simpson commended the Police Department for the bike safety program
and stated it is important that this program continue.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Buxton adjourned the meeting at 9:10 p.m. after which the Council
reconvened in closed personnel session.
