HomeMy WebLinkAboutmin 1974-01-02 rt AkTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH JANUARY 2, 1974 - PAGE 1 The City Council convened in regular session in the Council Chambers at 8:01 p.m. with Councilmen Weinkauf, Norgard, Pearson, and Mayor Simpson present. Councilman Buxton was absent. INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The invocation was given by Msgr. Tournier and Councilman Norgard led in the pledge of allegiance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On a motion by Councilman Pearson, seconded by Councilman Weinkauf, it was unanimously carried the minutes of the meeting of December 19, 1973, be approved as submitted by the Clerk. PAYROLL WARRANTS On a motion by Councilman Pearson, seconded by Councilman Norgard, it was unanimously carried Payroll Warrants #1338 to #1486 inclusive, for the period of December lst to December 15, 1973, inclusive, be approved in the total amount of $60,282.51. GENERAL WARRANTS On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Weinkauf, it was unanimously carried General Warrants #3204 to #3223 inclusive in the total amount of $17,918.87 be approved and ordered paid. ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 654 AMENDING CODE RE MINIMUM CHARGE FOR UTILITY SERVICE On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Pearson, it was carried by the following roll vote Ordinance No. 654 be adopted and the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign same, "An Ordinance Of The City Of Ukiah Amending Section 3513 Of The Ukiah City Code; Minimum Charge For Utility Service". AYES: Councilmen Weinkauf, Norgard, Pearson, Mayor Simpson. NOES: None ABSENT: Countilman Buxton REQUEST & AUTHORIZATION TO CALL FOR BIDS FOR TELEMETERING EQUIPMENT FOR NORTH SUBSTATION ELECTRIC SYSTEM City Manager reported subject equipment is the second stage of telemetering system which was started last year. An allocation of $10,000 was approved in the current budget for this equipment. Specifications were reviewed and call for bids recommended. On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Pearson, it was unanimously carried to authorize the Clerk to call for bids for telemetering equipment for the north substation electric system, bids to be received prior to 2:00 p.m. January 29, 1974. REQUEST & AUTHORIZATION TO CALL FOR BIDS FOR 3/4T TRUCK CAB & CHASSIS AND 1T TRUCK CAB & CHASSIS City Manager reported subject vehicles were authorized for replacement in the current budget and recommended call for bids. On a motion by Councilman Norgard, seconded by Councilman Weinkauf, it was carried by the following roll call vote to authorize the Clerk to call for bids for one 3/4 ton truck cab and chassis and one 1 ton truck cab and chassis, bids to be received prior to 2:00 p.m. January 29, 1974. Councilman Norgard referred to a recent bid opening for vehicles and requested that the Council be kept advised so that the bidding procedure can be started again in the event of any irregularity. Mayor Simpson stated the point was well taken and should be honored. MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH JANUARY 2, 1974 — PAGE 2 COMMITTEE REPORT RE RATE INCREASE (MOBILE HOME OWNERS) Councilman Weinkauf reported he and City Manager met with Mr. Del Kennedy and other mobile home owners in accordance with Council action of December S, 1973, on subject matter. The mobile home representatives proposed that the follow- ing points be considered - (1) That the increase be borne by the property owners of the park rather than the individual mobile home owners, (2) That the Council hold a public hearing on subject rate increase. REPORT OF MEETING WITH FIRE DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES Councilman Norgard reported the Fire District has been advised of the results of the meeting with Council representatives and we are now waiting their decision. COUNCILMAN PEARSON Councilman Pearson asked if the Anton Stadium committee has met and was advised that said committee should be meeting within a week or two. Councilman Pearson suggested that the Recreation Commission, Golf Pro, and Chamber of Commerce work together to promote additional use of the golf course by arranging tours, etc. COUNCILMAN NORGARD Councilman Norgard asked questions regarding the Disclosure Statement. Said questions were answered by the City Attorney. MAYOR SIMPSON Mayor Simpson referred to the intersection of Clay and Oak and stated that said intersection was icey and was in need of sand.
