HomeMy WebLinkAboutmin 1975-02-28 r MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH FEBRUARY 28, 1975 - PAGE 1 Due notice of the special meeting of the City Council having been given to the news media and posting having been done, the meeting was called to order at 11: 37 a.m. by Mayor Lorraine Pearson. Members of the Council who were present were Jack Simpson, Sterling NOrgard, Barry Wood and Gary Weinkauf, and Mayor Pearson. .� The purpose of the special meeting, which was held in closed litigation session, was to discuss the restraining order signed by Superior Court Judge A. B. Broaddus on February 26, 1975 restraining the City of Ukiah from holding an employee election to determine whether or not to withdraw from Social Security. The notice of holding said election was given on February 25, 1975, election to be held on February 27 and 28, 1975. The City Council had passed on March 21, 1973 , Resolution No. 73-37 indicating its intent to withdraw from Social Security. Discussion was had on the subject. It was pointed out that an alterna- tive package would not be presented prior to the election to determine to withdraw or not. For the purposes of taking action on the question the City Council went into open session. Councilman Wood thereupon moved the adoption of Resolution No. 75-53 stating that the City Council rescind Resolution No. 73-37 authorizing the withdrawal from Social Security. The motion was seconded by Council- man Simpson. Roll call vote was held in which Councilman Weinkauf did not participate as he left the meeting at 12: 05 p.m. Vote results: AYES: Councilmen Simpson, Norgard, Wood and Mayor Pearson NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Weinkauf Special meeting was adjourned at 12 : 20 p.m. Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk
