May 18, 1981
The City Council met in an adjourned session at 4 P.M. to discuss Community
Facilities, Recreation, Conservation-Open Space from the General Plan.
Councilmembers present: Hickey, Feibusch, Snyder, Riley, Myers. Staff
present: Payne, Harris, Melvin
COMMUNITY FACILITIES
It was the consensus of Council to combine Community Facilities and Recreation.
INTRODUCTION (Page 39)
Entire paragraph deleted.
GOALS
Entire section deleted with the retention of "Other appropriate areas, which
have available facilities, should also be developed and fully utilized." and
placed in the appropriate goal.
EXISTING COM}fONITY FACILITIES (Page 40)
Retain map but add: Change Hillside Community Hospital to Adventist Hospital
and show ne~ location; show Ukiah General Hospital's new location; show Fire
Station No. 2's new location; add SUn House and park; add college site.

Entire section deleted.

Page 42 deleted.
Page 43: Second paragraph - deletion of"with the completion of their Master
Plan in the fall of 1978." Staff to update paragraph.
Third paragraph to read: "The Lake-Mendocino Community College District
provides two year community college program for portions of Mendocino and Lake
Counties. A permanent location for the college site'has been set as the Yokayo
Ranch.
Remaining portion under Education deleted. The following sentence to be added
at the beginning of Education: "The City of Ukiah supports and encourages
better education."
PUBLIC SAFETY
First paragraph, fourth line: Deletion of "being constructed"
Ninth line: Period after ~he word "plan."
Deletion of "Currently Vichy Springs Road...Those two roads cross the railroad
and the Russian River.".

Last sentence to read: "The grade separations and extension of east-west
arterial streets as recommended in the Circulation Element would alleviate the
problems of delayed responses."

CIVIC CENTER (Page 44)
Delete entire section.
FAIRGROUNDS (Page 44a)
First paragraph: Deletion of "which attracts 35,000 people to the Ukiah
Fairgrounds the third week of August every year."
Deletion of second paragraph.
COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER (Page 44a)
"Community Recreation Center" to be renamed "SUN HOUSE". Staff to rewrite
paragraph.
ACTION PROGRAM (Page 44a)
Delete No. 2, 3 and 4.
No. 5: First word "Improve" deleted and "Maintain" inserted.
Second sentence: Deletion of "Planning Department" and "Council"
inserted.
Third and fourth sentences deleted.

No. 14 to read: "The City investigate .and encourage a policy regarding the
preservation of valid historical sites and structures." This sentence to be
put'in the Historical Element.

ADJOURNMENT - to June 1 and 2, 1981, for consideration of Housing Element and
consideration of Conservation-Open Space to be heard June 8, 1981.
