The City Council met in an adjourned session at 3:00 P.M. to
discuss the Conservation Open Space from the General Plan.
Councilmembers present: Hickey, Feibusch, Riley, Myers.
Councilmembers absent: Snyder.
Staff present: Payne, Orchard, Yarbrough, Zell.
HAZARDS (Page 70)
Retention of first sentence. Deletion of remainder of paragraph.
Second paragraph to read: "It is recommended that an open space
zone be developed, which allows primarily agricultural and
recreational uses."
GREENBELT CORRIDORS (Page 71)
Deletion of second paragraph and greenbelt areas listing.
The word "these" in first sentence of third paragraph deleted.
Change ~he word ."could" to ."may" in second sentence.
~ourth paragraph (page 72) to read: "Creeks should be ~erceived

as one of the area's most critical natural resources. Specific
design treatment of each creek should be studied on an individual
basis to evaluate the necessity for preservation, the desire for

Paragraph 2 to read "Continue to develop ways to minimize the
peak load impacts on the existing electrical distribution system
whereby a more stable energy demand is created within the General
Plan ar~a.
WATER RESOURCES (Page 74b)
First paragraph deleted up to the sentence "Water must be conserved
wherever and whenever possible". Sentences thereafter in paragraph
to remain. -
Council will ask the Director of Public Works to report on:
1) Is there really a drop in the ground water?
2) How does it interface With the Ranney Collector?
Second paragraph, last word "available" changed to "advisable".
GOALS
It was the concensus of the Councilmembers to remove this section
and insert it in the General Goals.
ACTION PROGRAM
Added as first'sentence to first paragraph: "Evaluate the use of
permeable surfaces for parking areas in order to recharge ground
waters."
RECYCLABLE MATERIALS (Page 74c)
Third paragraph deleted.
Fourth paragraph, last sentence changed to read:"Any increase in
this activity could lengthen the life of the landfill by decreasing
the amount required for disposal."
