HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin 06-22-82 (2)142 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF UKIAH JUNE 22, 1982 - PAGE 1 The City Council of the City of Ukiah convened in special session to seat the newly elected Councilmembers and to elect a Mayor and Vice-Mayor. The meeting was called to order at 6'30 p.m. in the Council Chambers with Councilmembers Hickey, Feibusch, Snyder, Riley and Mayor Myers present. PRESENTATION TO COUNCILMEMBER SNYDER Mayor Myers recognized Councilwoman Snyder expressing appreciation for her work on the Council, her calm demeanor and its positive effect on the Council and presented a plaque from the Council as an expression of this appreciation. Councilwoman Snyder accepted the plaque with thanks, expressing her appre- ciation t'o the people with whom she has worked and the help each has given her. OATH OF OFFICE The two newly elected Councilmembers, Hays Hickey and Mike Kelley were given the Constitutional Oath of Office by the Clerk. The Certificates of Election will be presented separately after the official canvass of ballots by the Council on July 7, 1982. Both Councilmembers made statements of appreciation. ELECTION OF MAYOR AND VICE-MAYOR On a motion by Mayor Myers, seconded by Councilmember Hickey it was unanimously carried Councilmember Riley be elected Mayor. On a motion by Councilmember Kelley, seconded by Councilmember Riley it was unanimously carried Councilmember Feibusch be elected Vice-Mayor. Councilmember Myers gave a brief report of the City's progress during the past year..and expressed his thanks to Council and'Staff for their cooperation. He introduced his family who were present in the audience. Mayor Riley accepted the gavel from Councilmember Myers and took the chair. PRESENTATION TO COUNCILMEMBER MYERS Mayor Riley presented to Councilmember Myers a plaque in recognition of his service to the City of Ukiah as its Mayor. MAYOR RILEY Mayor Riley expressed her thanks and desire to keep in touch with the pulse of the community with citizen support and ideas. She recognized those present in the audience who have given her support. She stated her two areas of in- terest are to respond to the people and to encourage participation and orderly process.
