Church Street Ukiah, CA 95482 SPECIAL MEETING July 22, 1985 The City Council convened in a Special Workshop session at 4:10 p.m., in the City Clerk's office. The following Councilmembers were present: Henderson, Kier, Hickey, Kelley and Mayor Myers. Staff present: Payne, Pedroncelli, Vara, and City Clerk Hayes. The Workshop was held to review the preliminary draft of the design develop- ment phase of the Ukiah Civic Center. Victor Lopes presented drawings of the demolition plans, the building as seen from different angles, and the site as it would look with some parking removed and the elimination of an awning over the police parking area. The City anticipates financing $2.7 million for the Civic Center. Mr. Lopes was directed to eliminate some items from the project with the intent of completing these items at a later phase. Mr. Lopes stated by making these changes it has brought the project down to $2.481 million. Discussion ensued regarding the elimination of the skylights. It was noted by eliminating this important feature in the first phase of construction it would be difficult, if not impossible, to add them back into the building. It was conceded by all that the skylights should remain in the initial phase of the project. The Finance Director wanted Council to be aware that further cuts may be necessary. There was some discussion as to whether the County of Mendocino may be inter- ested in adding to the Civic Center. There was no direction given by Council on this matter.
