HomeMy WebLinkAboutmin 06-30-86340 ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING UKIAH CITY COUNCIL OLD CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 111 WEST CHURCH STREET JUNE 30, 1986 The City Council convened in an adjourned regular meeting at 4:00 p.m. Roll was taken and the following Councilmembers were present: Schneiter, Shoemaker, Hickey, Kier, and Mayor Henderson. Staff present: City Manager Payne, City Attorney Rapport, Public Works Director Pedroncelli, and City Clerk Hayes. AWARD OF BID - CIVIC CENTER The City Manager noted that on June 26, 1986 bids were received. He further explained the bids received, the alternate bid portions of package, and staff's recommendation to delete the fountain construction. There was discussion regarding the problems that would arise and the ultimate costs when an item is deleted. The City Attorney stated that he has reviewed the bid documents and believes they are all appropriate, acceptable bids. Council questioned Mr. Lopes on the changes that had been made to the last construction documents by him. There was discussion regarding the communications tower and how complete the landscaping would be done. M/S Kier/Hickey to award the bid to construct the Civic Center Reconstruction Project to Crane of Ukiah, Inc. in the amount of $1,988,888 to include Alternate No. 8 and Alternate No. 2 and Ukiah Sheet Metal, Inc. for $127,132 and Mill Creek Nursery, Inc., Ron Pearson Landscaping for $111,797. The motion was carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmembers Schneiter, Shoemaker, Hickey, Kier, and Mayor Henderson. NOES: None. The City Manager discussed his continual contact with the School District regarding the removal of their buildings from the Yokayo site and explained that penalties could be imposed by the agreement if they did not do so post haste. Mayor Henderson suggested and Council concurred that a citizens committee should be formed to plan the opening day ceremony for the Civic Center.
