HomeMy WebLinkAboutMin 12-13-88183 CITY COUNCIL MINUTES CONFERENCE ROOM NO. 3 300 SEMINARY AVENUE UKIAH, CALIFORNIA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING GOAL SETTING SESSION SEPTEMBER 13, 1988 The City Council convened in an adjourned regular meeting at 8:45 a.m. in Conference Room No. 3. Roll was taken with Counctlmembers Shoemaker, Hickey, and Mayor Henderson present: Councilmembers Wattenburger and Schneiter were absent. Staff present: City Manager Payne and City Clerk McKay. The City Manager reviewed the 1986 City Council goals and objectives noting that a majority had been achieved. RECESS: 10:15 A.M. RECONVENE: 10:25 A.M. The City Manager continued reviewing the 1986 City Council goals with Council. Council began categorizing the following goals for 1988 and discussed the objectives that could achieve the goals. Ie ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Obj ec tive: · DOWNTOWN a. Promote County as anchor in downtown area b. Find a viable use for the Palace Hotel c. Continue to support the Main Street Program d. Utilize city owned property i. explore incubator concept ii. rent/sell properties e. Signage i. parking ii. downtown iii. highway · REDEVELOPMENT a. Proceed with Ukiah Redevelopment Agency projects b. Improve communications with the Project Advisory Committee c. Ukiah Redevelopment Agency investigate Post Office Annex lot for parking Be PROMOTION a. Investigate using electric department as promotional development tool b. Contract for direct promotion; i.e. trade shows, builder promotion RECESS FOR LUNCH: 12:00 Noon RECONVENE: 1:10 P.M. II. PROMOTION OF UKIAH I · · · · Investigate Ukiah's future i. Hold seminars ii. Master Plan for (Ukiah 2000) - Ukiah Valley incorporated iii. Bring in experts Introduce Channel 50 to Uktah (get acquainted session) Special recognition for citizens "good deeds" Use foyer in Civic Center in a better way i. More shows/exhibits ii.
